Primary Tumor Resection in Patients With Unresectable Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This systematic review and meta‐analysis evaluated the role of primary tumor resection (PTR) in asymptomatic patients with unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer. Across 17 eligible studies including 9317 patients, PTR did not improve overall or progression‐free survival compared with chemotherapy alone.

Characterization of bla CTX-M sequences of Indian origin and thirteen uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolates resistant to multiple antibiotics

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2018
Objectives ESBL-producing isolates of the Enterobacteriaceae occur throughout the world. The objectives of this study were to characterize uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolated at a tertiary care hospital in southern India, and shed light on bla CTX-M ...

Cyclic Boronates Inhibit All Classes of β-Lactamase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
β-Lactamase-mediated resistance is a growing threat to the continued use of β-lactam antibiotics. The use of the β-lactam-based serine-β-lactamase (SBL) inhibitors clavulanic acid, sulbactam, tazobactam, and, more recently, the non-β-lactam inhibitor ...

Activity of cefiderocol against high-risk clones of multidrug-resistant Enterobacterales, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Cefiderocol is a novel siderophore cephalosporin, developed for activity against MDR Gram-negative bacilli (MDR-GNB). OBJECTIVES: To assess the in vitro antibacterial activity of cefiderocol against a collection of MDR-GNB clinical ...

Multifunctional hyaluronic acid hydrogel integrating exosome‐encapsulating gelatin microspheres accelerates skeletal muscle regeneration via TGF‐β1 activation and enhanced myogenic cell viability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of preparation of injectable H/G@Co@miR‐206 hydrogel for efficient skeletal muscle regeneration in cardiotoxin‐induced skeletal muscle injury SD rat model. Abstract The effective treatment of acute skeletal muscle injuries remains challenging, necessitating therapeutic strategies that concurrently reestablish vascular perfusion ...

OXA-1 β-lactamase and non-susceptibility to penicillin/β-lactamase inhibitor combinations among ESBL-producing Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background ESBL-producing Escherichia coli have expanded globally since the turn of the century and present a major public health issue. Their in vitro susceptibility to penicillin/inhibitor combinations is variable, and clinical use of these ...

Interaction of CTX-M-15 enzyme with cefotaxime: a molecular modelling and docking study [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformation, 2010
Extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) are the bacterial enzymes that make them resistant to advanced-generation cephalosporins. CTXM enzymes (the most prevalent ESBL-type) target cefotaxime. Aims of the study were: Modelling of CTX-M enzyme from bla(CTX-M) sequences of clinical Escherichia coli isolatesDocking of cefotaxime with modelled CTX-M enzymes

Denosumab Offers Relatively Lower Initial Protection Against Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures in Treatment‐Naive Patients Compared With Zoledronate

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
We compared the initial efficacy of denosumab (Dmab) and zoledronate (ZOL) in treatment‐naive patients with osteoporosis. This cohort study, based on TriNetX data, evaluated the risks of fractures and mortality using Kaplan–Meier survival analyses, with hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).
