Characterization of CTX-M-14 and CTX-M-15 producing Escherichia coli strains causing neonatal sepsis [PDF]
Neonatal sepsis is a disease affecting newborns ≤1 month of age with clinical symptoms and positive blood cultures. The number of Escherichia coli strains causing neonatal sepsis resistant to the antibiotics used in the treatment is increasing.

Effect of spacer sequences between bla CTX-M and ISEcp1 on bla CTX-M expression
Spacer sequences of 42 and 127 bp, respectively, between the ISEcp1 insertion sequence and bla(CTX-M) have been observed in Klebsiella pneumoniae. However, it is not known whether different spacers upstream of bla(CTX-M) and a promoter within the 127 bp spacer influence cephalosporin resistance.

The Novel CTX-M-116 β-Lactamase Gene Discovered in Proteus mirabilis Is Composed of Parts of the CTX-M-22 and CTX-M-23 Genes [PDF]
ABSTRACTThe novel β-lactamase geneblaCTX-M-116was identified in aProteus mirabilisnosocomial isolate recovered from the urine of a patient in Moscow in 2005. DNA sequence analysis showedblaCTX-M-116to be a hybrid gene consisting of 5′blaCTX-M-23(nucleotides 1 to 278) and 3′blaCTX-M-22(nucleotides 286 to 876) moieties separated by an intervening ...

Structural Comparisons of Cefotaximase (CTX-M-ase) Sub Family 1
The cefotaximase or CTX-M, family of serine-β-lactamases represents a significant clinical concern due to the ability for these enzymes to confer resistance to a broad array of β-lactam antibiotics an inhibitors.

Interaction of carbapenems and β-lactamase inhibitors towards CTX-M-15 and CTX-M-15 G238C mutant
The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of residue 238 in CTX-M-15 and CTX-M-15G238C mutant with respect to carbapenems and various β-lactamase inhibitors.A CTX-M-15G238C laboratory mutant was generated by site-directed mutagenesis from CTX-M-15 enzyme by replacing glycine 238 with cysteine.

Broad-spectrum β-lactamases among Enterobacteriaceae of animal origin: molecular aspects, mobility and impact on public health [PDF]
Broad-spectrum β-lactamase genes (coding for extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and AmpC β-lactamases) have been frequently demonstrated in the microbiota of food-producing animals. This may pose a human health hazard since these genes may be present
