Synthesis of the EF-ring segment of ciguatoxin CTX1B based on novel regioselective reduction of unsaturated cyanohydrins and ring-closing olefin metathesis

open access: closedTetrahedron, 2005
Aiming at a convergent total synthesis of ciguatoxin CTX1B, its EF-ring segment has been synthesized. During the synthesis, a novel method for the construction of branched ethers, based on regioselective reduction of γ-alkoxy β,γ-unsaturated α-silyloxy nitriles with borontrifluoride etherate and trialkyl silane or tributyltin hydride, has been ...

Development of a monoclonal antibody against the left wing of ciguatoxin CTX1B: Thiol strategy and detection using a sandwich ELISA

open access: closedToxicon, 2012
Ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP) is a form of food poisoning caused by the ingestion of a variety of reef fish that have accumulated trace amounts of ciguatoxins produced by dinoflagellates of the genus Gambierdiscus through the food chain. CFP affects more than 50,000 people each year.

Practical Route to the Left Wing of CTX1B and Total Syntheses of CTX1B and 54‐deoxyCTX1B

open access: closedChemistry – A European Journal, 2014
AbstractCiguatoxins, the principal causative agents of ciguatera seafood poisoning, are extremely large polycyclic ethers. We report herein a reliable route for constructing the left wing of CTX1B, which possesses the acid/base/oxidant‐sensitive bisallylic ether moiety, by a 6‐exo radical cyclization/ring‐closing metathesis strategy.

Addressing the Analytical Challenges for the Detection of Ciguatoxins Using an Electrochemical Biosensor [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2020
The importance of ciguatoxins (CTXs) in seafood safety and their emerging occurrence in locations far away from tropical areas highlight the need for simple and low-cost methods for the sensitive and rapid detection of these potent marine toxins to ...
