DECOLONIZING CREATIVE GEOGRAPHIES OF ART BIENNIALS: A Study of Istanbul's Yeditepe Biennial through the Cultural Politics of Turkish Islamic Nationalism

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Volume 50, Issue 5, Page 1116-1132, September 2026.
Abstract This article examines the Yeditepe Biennial—Turkey's first Islamic and traditional arts biennial—as a creative festival shaped by the socio‐political and spatial dynamics of Turkish‐Islamist nationalism. Counterposed against the Istanbul Biennial and the Western‐oriented secular cultural legacy of the Turkish Republic, the Yeditepe Biennial ...

Not all Temperature Shocks are Alike: Disentangling Heat and High Temperature Shocks and Their Effects on Inflation in Australia

open access: yesEconomic Record, Volume 102, Issue 338, Page 323-349, September 2026.
We study the effects of heat and high temperature shocks on inflation in Australia using monthly, state‐level temperature anomaly data via two stages. In the first stage, we decompose temperature anomalies into orthogonal components using a structural vector autoregression with long‐run restrictions.

Quantitative evaluation of LED‐based optical autofocus module

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 303, Issue 3, Page 277-288, September 2026.
Abstract We report an improved version of the open‐source optical autofocus (OAF) module (openAF) for light microscopy, replacing the superluminescent diode (SLD) with a multimode‐optical fibre‐coupled LED as a more accessible AF module light source. We also present a method for independently quantifying AF system performance using 2D autocorrelation ...

Pixels and Patterns in the Sand: Decoding Coastal Dune Habitats With Multi‐Resolution CNNs

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 37, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
Coastal dune habitats are small, fragmented, and challenging to map. We tested convolutional neural networks (CNNs) on an Italian coastal dune system, comparing four remote sensing datasets: UAV, airborne, Google Earth, and WorldView‐3 satellite. Mapping accuracy dropped sharply with coarser spatial resolution, while adding spectral bands mostly ...

Precision or Paradox? AI‐Driven Adiposity Imaging in Women With Overweight and Obesity: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesObesity Reviews, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) enables automated, high‐throughput adiposity quantification, offering refined risk stratification for women with overweight and obesity. We systematically reviewed and meta‐analyzed studies evaluating AI‐based segmentation of visceral, subcutaneous, and total fat in adult women populations (BMI: 25–29.9 and ≥ 30 kg/
