Compact cubic splines

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2022
A new way to form cubic splines that provide interpolants with exactness of degree four is introduced. These cubic spline interpolants are calculated by using tridiagonal matrices which are totally nonnegative and positive definite, and those are very attractive features for the numerical methods.

Complex cubic splines [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1967
Introduction. The past two decades have witnessed an increasing intensity of investigation, [1]-[26], into the properties of spline functions. These functions, which in their simplest form yield the analytic counterpart of the draftsman's tool for drawing a smooth curve through a number of prescribed points, play an important and fundamental role in ...

Numerical treatment of Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers equation with fourth-order improvised B-spline collocation method

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science, 2022
In this work, the Benjamin-Bona-Mahony-Burgers (BBMB) equation is solved using an improvised cubic B-spline collocation technique. This equation describes the propagation of small amplitude waves in a nonlinear dispersive medium, in the modeling of ...

Machine-Learning Methods on Noisy and Sparse Data

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
Experimental and computational data and field data obtained from measurements are often sparse and noisy. Consequently, interpolating unknown functions under these restrictions to provide accurate predictions is very challenging.

Approximation of the Riesz–Caputo Derivative by Cubic Splines

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2022
Differential problems with the Riesz derivative in space are widely used to model anomalous diffusion. Although the Riesz–Caputo derivative is more suitable for modeling real phenomena, there are few examples in literature where numerical methods are ...

A rational cubic spline with tension [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Aided Geometric Design, 1990
The authors present a description and analysis of a rational cubic spline with tension intended for computer-aided geometrical design. Its description provides the tension parameters which are used for manipulation of the shape of the curve. The rational cubic Hermite interpolant is introduced after some preliminary analysis.

CUBIC SPLINE HISTOPOLATION*

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2017
Cubic spline histopolation with arbitrary placement of histogram knots and spline knots between them is studied. Classical boundary conditions are used. Histopolating spline is represented with the help of second moments and particular integrals. The systems determining these parameters are investigated in different cases where diagonal dominance in ...

IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA PROCESSING AT CUBIC SPLINES’ INTERPOLATION BY “THE SHIFT TECHNIQUE”

open access: yesВестник СибАДИ, 2018
Introduction. To process the experimental data, interpolation and smoothing cubic splines are widely used in practice. This task is relevant and attracts a sufficiently large number of researchers.

What are the limits of efficiency for the application of bi-cubic splines in a regional weather prediction grid point model?

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 2000
Single (one-dimensional) and bi-cubic (two-dimensional) splines have been used in numerical weather prediction models since about 1970. Especially the semi-Lagrangian advection schemes have been developed with the help of the spline interpolation method.
