Biolistic inoculation of gladiolus with cucumber mosaic cucumovirus

Journal of Virological Methods, 2005
A new method of inoculation of gladiolus with cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was developed using the Bio-Rad Helios Gene Gun System. This method circumvents the traditional use of aphids to transmit CMV, a virus that is mechanically transmissible to many plant species but only with difficulty to gladiolus.

Nucleotide sequence of RNA 3 of peanut stunt cucumovirus

Virology, 1991
The nucleotide sequence of the RNA 3 of the peanut stunt virus strain J (PSV-J) was determined and compared with those of the cucumber mosaic virus strain Y (CMV-Y, subgroup I) and the tomato aspermy virus strain C (TAV-C) at both the nucleotide and protein levels.

Behavior of Cucumovirus Pseudorecombinant and Recombinant Strains in Solanaceous Hosts

1997
Pseudorecombinant and chimeric recombinant strains have been created between two strains of cucumber mosaic virus (I17F-CMV and R-CMV) or between R-CMV and tomato aspermy virus (P-TAV), and their biological properties have been assessed on certain solanaceous hosts.

Characterization of cucumber mosaic cucumovirus isolates in Greece

Plant Pathology, 1999
Since 1990, massive cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV) outbreaks of various symptomatology, especially on tomato, have been observed all over Greece. To characterize local virus populations, 40 CMV isolates of different origin and symptomatology in the field and glasshouse were examined for subgroup identification and presence of ...

Molecular Modeling for Better Understanding of Cucumovirus Pathology

2018
Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) is a small RNA virus capable of infecting a wide variety of plant species. The high economic losses due to the CMV infection made this virus a relevant subject of scientific studies, which were further facilitated by the small size of the viral genome.

A novel set of polyvalent primers that detect members of the genera Bromovirus and Cucumovirus

Journal of Virological Methods, 2014
Rapid detection and diagnosis of plant virus infection is one of the most important steps in preventing damages caused by viral diseases. Bromoviruses and cucumoviruses belong to the family Bromoviridae, which is one of the most important families of plant viruses, and infect a broad range of host plants including various economically important crops ...

IDENTIFICATION OF QTLS CONTRIBUTING TO RESISTANCE TO DIFFERENT STRAINS OF CUCUMBER MOSAIC CUCUMOVIRUS IN MELON

Acta Horticulturae, 2000
A population of 122 recombinant inbred lines obtained by crossing a Charentais-type cultivar, Vedrantais, and the resistant Korean PI 161375 was evaluated for resistance to cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV) in melon (Cucumis melo L.). Dates of appearance and intensity of symptoms were recorded upon infection with three CMV strains, two strains from ...
