Ocurrence of pepper yellow mosaic virus and cucumber mosaic virus on Capsicum chinense in the state of Amazonas, Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 2020
The habanero chilli pepper, Capsicum chinense is an important crop in the Amazon Basin, mainly grown by small-scale producers. Capsicum chinense plants in an experimental field in the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas were found exhibiting ...

Insect-mediated transmission of mixed and reassorted cucumovirus genomic RNAs

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1992
Transmissions of virus using the aphid Myzus persicae were performed using plants co-infected with two cucumoviruses, tomato aspermy virus (V-TAV) and cucumber mosaic virus (M-CMV). Five of the aphid-transmitted progeny viruses (3.7%) induced symptoms distinct from those induced by either parental virus.

Viral Infection Risk Driven by Ecological Trait Susceptibility to Habitat Heterogeneity

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 14, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Traits for host exploitation that drive the transmission of disease and pathogen emergence are expressed in heterogenous environments. To advance the development of accurate forecasting of infection risk and emergence, determining constraints on ecological strategies for resource use by pathogens over a range of host communities is essential ...

Development of a Novel Tissue Blot Hybridization Chain Reaction for the Identification of Plant Viruses

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Assays for the high throughput screening of crops for virus monitoring need to be quick, easy, and low cost. One method involves using tissue blot immunoassays (TBIA), where plant stems are blotted onto nitrocellulose membrane and screened with available

Cucumber Mosaic Virus Coat Protein Sequesters Host CDPK7‐Like Into Phase‐Separated Condensates to Promote Viral Infection

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study reveals a tripartite pesticide–pathogen–host interaction in which the host kinase CDPK7‐like in Nicotiana benthamiana interacts with cucumber mosaic virus coat protein (CMV CP) to form LLPS‐driven condensates that facilitate viral infection.

Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus Reprogrammes Host Glycolysis to Facilitate Proliferation by a Phase‐Separated Co‐Aggregate of Nucleocapsid Protein and Phosphoglycerate Kinase

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 2826-2842, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Efficient viral proliferation within the host is a critical step in pathogenicity and requires adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The replication, movement and immune evasion of many plant viruses within their hosts are associated with phase separation (PS)‐derived aggregates formed by viral components.

Characterization of cucumber mosaic virus from Handroanthus heptaphyllus in Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesScientia Agricola
In January 2022 and April 2024, plants of Handroanthus heptaphyllus, designated HP22 and HP24, respectively, exhibiing symptoms of mosaic, leaf blistering, and ring spots were observed in the municipality of Piracicaba, São Paulo state, Brazil. Molecular
