Antigenotoxic spinasterol from Cucurbita maxima flowers
Mutation Research/Environmental Mutagenesis and Related Subjects, 1996The antigenotoxic constituent of squash flowers was isolated by solvent partitioning and repeated vacuum liquid chromatography. The micronucleus test, an in vivo method, was used to monitor the antigenotoxicity of the various fractions during the isolation process.

Proteins of the sieve-tube exudate of Cucurbita maxima
Planta, 1971Sieve-tube exudate which appears on cut surfaces of stems of Cucurbita maxima as distinct droplets has been depicted in electron micrographs of longitudinal sections of the phloem. The exudate, which was produced from mature sieve tubes only, contained filaments of P-protein, but no mitochondria or vesicles of endoplasmic reticulum.

Resistance in Cucurbita pepo and Cucurbita maxima germplasms to cucumber mosaic virus
Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution, 1996A total of 384 Cucurbita pepo and Cucurbita maxima accessions were evaluated in growth chambers or glasshouse tests for resistance to cucumber mosaic virus (CMV).
