Prime editing‐mediated correction of the endogenous xa23 gene confers broad‐spectrum resistance to rice bacterial blight

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, EarlyView.
Using prime editing, we corrected the EBE within the xa23 promoter in the rice cultivar N9208, generating a T‐DNA‐free line with broad‐spectrum resistance to bacterial blight. This approach provides a universal strategy for rapidly improving resistance in other rice cultivars. Abstract Rice bacterial blight (BB), caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae

Herbivores induce plant chemical defenses based on the identity of their attacking parasitoid

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Many parasitoids increase plant fitness by decreasing herbivore feeding damage. Solitary parasitoids (where only one individual completes development per host) generally cause their hosts to feed less than unparasitized herbivores, reducing pressure on plants to induce chemical defense production.

A Validated GC‐MS Method for Major Terpenes Quantification in Hydrodistilled Cannabis sativa Essential oil

open access: yesPhytochemical Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Terpenes, which are found in high concentrations in the essential oil fraction of the Cannabis sativa flower, have demonstrated potential in many therapeutic and industrial applications. Objectives This work reports on a method developed for quantifying 18 terpenes in C. sativa essential oil obtained through hydrodistillation. The

Isolation and Characterization of Extracellular Vesicles From Ascochyta rabiei, a Necrotrophic Fungal Chickpea Pathogen

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles produced by pathogenic organisms play a role in host recognition and invasion across kingdoms, including fungi interacting with their plant hosts. Little is known about EVs from phytopathogenic fungi compared to human fungal pathogens.
