Experimental model for establishment of hypoxia in 75 cm² culture flasks Modelo experimental para o estabelecimento de hipóxia em balões de cultura de 75 cm²

open access: yesActa Cirúrgica Brasileira, 2004
In Plastic Surgery, cell culture represents the perspective of studying cellular mechanisms that guide the healing process of several tissues. Some steps of the healing process depend on physical factors as the tissular partial pressure of O2.

Single-channel recordings from cultured human retinal pigment epithelial cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
We have applied patch-clamp techniques to on-cell and excised-membrane patches from human retinal pigment epithelial cells in tissue culture. Single-channel currents from at least four ion channel types were observed: three or more potassium-selective ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Infection of human cytomegalovirus in cultured human gingival tissue. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
BackgroundHuman cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection in the oral cavity plays an important role in its horizontal transmission and in causing viral-associated oral diseases such as gingivitis.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Cell Culture [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Engineering, 2001
This article focuses on Tribon Bearing Co. plant in Brook Park, OH, a manufacturer of discrete carbon composite parts and shapes that had been plagued by problems that threatened its existence. The old Tribon plant was a traditional manufacturing setup, in which operations were highly compartmentalized.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
