Runaway Hazard Assessment of Cumene Hydroperoxide From the Cumene Oxidation Process [PDF]
Cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) is normally produced by the cumene oxidation process. Severe fire and explosion incidents have occurred in oxidation and concentration processes due to the thermal instability of CHP.

Enantioselective metabolism of cumene
Xenobiotica, 19921. The enantioselective metabolism of cumene (isopropylbenzene) was studied in intact rabbits. 2. Of the total 2-phenyl-1-propanol formed metabolically, 90.3% was shown by h.p.l.c. to be (R)-(+)-2-phenyl-1-propanol. The corresponding values for (S)-(+)-2-phenylpropanoic acid and (R)-(-)-2-hydroxy-2-phenylpropanoic acid were 99.0 and 81.0%, respectively.

Aerobic oxidation of cumene to cumene hydroperoxide catalyzed by metalloporphyrins
Kinetics and Catalysis, 2010A protocol for the aerobic oxidation of cumene to cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) catalyzed by metalloporphyrins is reported herein. Typically, the reaction was performed in an intermittent mode under an atmospheric pressure of air and below 130°C. Several important reaction parameters, such as the structure and concentration of metalloporphyrin, the air ...

Abstract The chemical interaction of cumene with the OH groups of silicaalumina has been studied by chemisorption and by molecular orbital calculations. It has been found that the surface of the silica-alumina is heterogeneous for the adsorption of cumene, and the Freundlich model fits the experimental results reasonably well.

Abstract Cumene hydroperoxide dissolved in dodecane is rapidly decomposed by platinum and appreciably by silica gel or by silver in the absence of gaseous oxygen, but virtually no decomposition is observed with unsupported silver in an oxygen atmosphere.
