Alkene Hydrogenation by a Cationic, Nine‐Coordinate Molybdenum(VI) Pentahydride Catalyst
While late 3d metals dominate efforts to replace precious metals in homogeneous hydrogenation, molybdenum has remained largely ignored. This work reveals that a nine‐coordinate pentahydrido molybdenum complex can hydrogenate a broad range of alkenes efficiently, demonstrating that early‐metal polyhydrides can serve as genuine catalysts rather than mere

Chronic hemolysis, enhanced oxidative stress, and decreased nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability promote vasculopathy in sickle cell anemia (SCA). Oxidative stress and NO are known to modulate eryptosis in healthy red blood cells (RBCs); however, their role

White tea aqueous extract counteracts cumene hydroperoxide-induced oxidative damage in human sperm: a comparative study with L-ascorbic acid [PDF]
Background: Oxidative stress (OS) damages sperm by overwhelming antioxidant defences with excess free radicals, damaging seminal parameters and contributing to male infertility.

Polyesterase activity and thermostability of carboxylesterases from Thermoleophilum album YS‐3
Three novel α/β‐hydrolases from thermophilic bacterium Thermoleophilum album display carboxylesterase and polyesterase activity. These enzymes hydrolyse PET, PLA and PCL both at high and moderate temperatures. TA21 shows superior activity, efficiently converting MHET to terephthalic acid. Structural features underlying substrate binding highlight their

Copper mediated epoxidation of high oleic natural oils with a cumene-O-2 system
The epoxidation of methyl oleate or high oleic FAMEs from different vegetable oils was carried out in a one-pot reaction over supported copper catalysts by using cumene as oxygen carrier.

The intramolecular nitrile oxide olefin [3 + 2]‐cycloaddition offers a reliable entry toward 2‐aza‐bicyclo[4.3.0]‐nonanes, a substructure found in several bioactive piperidine alkaloids. The required oxime precursors were prepared in non‐racemic form by Ir‐catalyzed asymmetric allylation and ring‐closing metathesis.

Here, we describe new Cu(I)/Cu(II) complexes based on arylated tren ligands and investigate their reactivity toward O2 and peroxides. Low‐temperature–stopped flow studies revealed the formation of transient copper–oxygen species, including superoxido, hydroperoxido, and alkylperoxido intermediates.

From Citrus to Cymene: Understanding the Hydrothermal Conversion of Limonene
When life gives you limonene… Hydrothermal conversion and pyrolysis of limonene give two distinct sets of products, arising from differing reaction cascades. While p‐cymene dominates in the presence of water, indicative of an isomerisation/aromatisation pathway, pyrolysis favours cracking and loss of carbon affording an m‐xylene rich aromatic mix.
