Cumulant GAN

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2023
In this paper, we propose a novel loss function for training Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) aiming towards deeper theoretical understanding as well as improved stability and performance for the underlying optimization problem. The new loss function is based on cumulant generating functions giving rise to \emph{Cumulant GAN}.

Modulation Order Reduction Method for Improving the Performance of AMC Algorithm Based on Sixth–Order Cumulants

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
For the last two decades a large number of different automatic modulation classification (AMC) algorithms were developed, and many improvements in classification performance are reported.

Empirical estimation of realized higher-order (joint) cumulants and their practical issues [PDF]

open access: yesSeonmul yeongu
As conventional realized third and fourth (co)moments estimated with sub-period returns are biased, Neuberger (2012) and Bae and Lee (2021) develop new unbiased realized (joint) cumulants using extended information.

The Monotone Cumulants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the present paper we define the notion of generalized cumulants which gives a universal framework for commutative, free, Boolean, and especially, monotone probability theories.

An identification technique for the co-frequency mixed communication signals based on cumulants

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2018
Identification of the co-frequency interference is a common problem in wireless digital communication systems. The high-order statistics (HOS) feature based on cumulants is a widely adopted solution. However, prior knowledge of the timings and the symbol

The splitting process in free probability theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Free cumulants were introduced by Speicher as a proper analog of classical cumulants in Voiculescu's theory of free probability. The relation between free moments and free cumulants is usually described in terms of Moebius calculus over the lattice of ...

Relations between cumulants in noncommutative probability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We express classical, free, Boolean and monotone cumulants in terms of each other, using combinatorics of heaps, pyramids, Tutte polynomials and permutations.

Photon-number moments and cumulants of Gaussian states [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
We develop closed-form expressions for the moments and cumulants of Gaussian states when measured in the photon-number basis. We express the photon-number moments of a Gaussian state in terms of the loop Hafnian, a function that when applied to a $(0,1)$-

Transport model study of conserved charge fluctuations and QCD phase transition in heavy-ion collisions

open access: yesHe jishu, 2023
The RHIC-STAR (Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider-Solenoid Tracker at RHIC) experiments have measured the cumulants of net-proton (a proxy for net-baryon), net-charge, and net-kaon (proxy of net-strangeness) multiplicity distributions in Au+Au collisions at

Unbiased Estimates for Products of Moments and Cumulants for Finite Populations

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
Let FN be the distribution function of a finite real population of size N. Let Fn be the empirical distribution function of a sample of size n drawn from the population without replacement.
