Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Calibration of quantum decision theory: aversion to large losses and predictability of probabilistic choices

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Complexity, 2023
We present the first calibration of quantum decision theory (QDT) to a dataset of binary risky choice. We quantitatively account for the fraction of choice reversals between two repetitions of the experiment, using a probabilistic choice formulation in ...

Path Choice of Emergency Logistics Based on Cumulative Prospect Theory

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2019
We study the problem of path choice for emergency logistics in this paper. Based on the uncertainty environment during the path choice from emergency logistics network and the bounded rationality of decision makers, cumulative prospect theory is ...

The role of information release on skewness relation and future stock return [PDF]

open access: yesتحقیقات مالی, 2016
This research aims to investigate relationship between skewness and future stock return and the impact of information releases on this relationship. Then, the data of 89 companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange are collected and analyzed for 2009 to ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Gain–loss hedging and cumulative prospect theory

open access: yesMathematical Social Sciences
Two acts are comonotonic if they yield high payoffs in the same states of nature. The main purpose of this paper is to derive a new characterization of Cumulative Prospect Theory (CPT) through simple properties involving comonotonicity. The main novelty is a concept dubbed gain-loss hedging: mixing positive and negative acts creates hedging ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

An experimental study on cumulative prospect theory learning model of travelers’ dynamic mode choice under uncertainty

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2017
In this paper, we examined travelers’ dynamic mode choice behavior under travel time variability. We found travelers’ inconsistent risk attitudes through a binary mode choice experiment.

Cumulative Prospect Theory for Parametric and Multiattribute Utilities [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Operations Research, 2001
Different attitudes towards gains and losses are a prominent feature of cumulative prospect theory for decision under uncertainty. In particular, decision weights for uncertain events can depend on whether the events involve gains or losses, and the shape of the utility function can reveal loss aversion.
