A current controller must satisfy the contradictory requirements of having a fast dynamic response in transient and a low harmonic content in steady state, characteristics that are found in linear and hysteresis controllers, respectively. Predictive current controllers partly satisfy these requirements but at expenses of complexity.

A current controlled CMOS current amplifier

A new circuit solution for current controlled current amplification is proposed. The basic idea of the circuit is to use a DC current in order to induce an unbalance on the VGS loop of a current mirror. It is demonstrated that the input-output amplification is controlled by a DC current.
