Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Voltage and Current Excitation for Time-Harmonic Eddy-Current Problems [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2008
We give a systematic presentation of voltage or current intensity excitation for time-harmonic eddy-current problems. The key point of our approach resides in a suitable power law that permits us to understand the role of voltage excitation. We also shed light on the influence of the boundary conditions on the proposed formulations.

Generation of 3rd and 5th harmonics in a thin superconducting film by temperature oscillations and isothermal nonlinear current response

open access: yes, 2001
The generation of harmonics of the voltage response is considered when an AC current is applied through a superconducting film above T_c. It is shown that almost at all temperatures the mechanism of the temperature oscillations created by the AC current ...

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

The Power Losses in Cable Lines Supplying Nonlinear Loads

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This paper presents the skin effect impact on the active power losses in the sheathless single-core cables/wires supplying nonlinear loads. There are significant conductor losses when the current has a distorted waveform (e.g., the current supplying ...

Array of Josephson junctions with a non-sinusoidal current-phase relation as a model of the resistive transition of unconventional superconductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An array of resistively and capacitively shunted Josephson junctions with nonsinusoidal current-phase relation is considered for modelling the transition in high-T$_c$ superconductors. The emergence of higher harmonics, besides the simple sinusoid $I_{c}\

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Rotor Slot Permeance Harmonics under Distorted Air-Gap Flux Waveform for Cage Induction Motors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The air-gap flux waveform for a cage induction machine is not sinusoidal in shape and contains various harmonics, including the phase-belt harmonics, slot magnetomotive force (mmf) harmonics, slot permeance harmonics, and saturation harmonics.

Anomalous magnetotransport through reflection-symmetric artificial molecules

open access: yes, 2013
We calculate magnetotransport oscillations in current through a triple-quantum-dot molecule, accounting for higher harmonics (having flux period h/ne, with n an integer).
