The subject of this work is the development of a corrosion‐protective coating on steel sheets for form hardening. Rapid heating in an extreme high vacuum (XHV)‐adequate atmosphere is a useful method to prevent oxidation during alloying of 22MnB5 and aluminum to obtain a metallurgical bonding.

Real- and Imaginary-Time Evolution with Compressed Quantum Circuits
The current generation of noisy intermediate-scale quantum computers introduces new opportunities to study quantum many-body systems. In this paper, we show that quantum circuits can provide a dramatically more efficient representation than current ...

Modelling of the Quench Process for the Optimisation of the Design and Protection of Superconducting Busbars for the LHC [PDF]
The superconducting busbars powering the LHC magnets are highly stabilised with copper to reduce the probability of a quench starting in a busbar and to avoid excessive temperatures after a quench during current discharge.

Avoidance of impurity-induced current quench using lower hybrid current drive
This work reports observations of a tokamak plasma that experienced a thermal quench due to a large, transient high-Z influx but avoided a current quench. This is argued to be caused by the presence of lower hybrid range of frequency (LHRF) waves that sustain a non-thermal, current-carrying electron population.

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

We present the results of numerical analysis of a model of normal zone propagation in coated conductors. The main emphasis is on the effects of increased contact resistance between the superconducting film and the stabilizer on the speed of normal zone ...

Dilepton from Disoriented Chiral Condensates [PDF]
Disoriented chiral condensates are manifested as long wavelength pionic oscillations and their interaction with the thermal environment can be a significant source of dileptons.

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Quench propagation in High Temperature Superconducting materials integrated in high current leads [PDF]
High temperature superconductors (HTS) have been integrated in the high current leads for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), under construction at CERN, in order to reduce the heat leak into the liquid helium bath due to the joule effect.

Dynamics of Quantum Phase Transition in an Array of Josephson Junctions
We study the dynamics of the Mott insulator-superfluid quantum phase transition in a periodic 1D array of Josephson junctions. We show that crossing the critical point diabatically i.e.
