Trigger-Based Dexterous Operation with Multimodal Sensors for Soft Robotic Hand

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
This paper focuses on how to improve the operation ability of a soft robotic hand (SRH). A trigger-based dexterous operation (TDO) strategy with multimodal sensors is proposed to perform autonomous choice operations.

Developing an error budget for the nonlinear curvature wavefront sensor

open access: yesJournal of Astronomical Telescopes, Instruments, and Systems, 2023
Consistent operation of adaptive optics (AO) systems requires the use of a wavefront sensor (WFS) with high sensitivity and low noise. The nonlinear curvature WFS (nlCWFS) has been shown both in simulations and lab experiments to be more sensitive than the industry-standard Shack-Hartmann WFS (SHWFS), but its noise characteristics have yet to be ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Overall hull girder nonlinear strength monitoring based on inclinometer sensor data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2020
It is announced a new procedure for the real-time overall hull response monitoring system depends on inclinometer sensor data. The procedure requires a few inclinometer sensors’ data, located on the deck.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Research on Straightness Perception Compensation Model of FBG Scraper Conveyor Based on Rotation Error Angle

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The accurate perception of straightness of a scraper conveyor is important for the construction of intelligent working faces in coal mines. In this paper, we propose a precision compensation model based on rotation error angle to improve the accuracy of ...

Annexin B12 Is a Sensor of Membrane Curvature and Undergoes Major Curvature-dependent Structural Changes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
The regulation of membrane curvature plays an important role in many membrane trafficking and fusion events. Recent studies have begun to identify some of the proteins involved in controlling and sensing the curvature of cellular membranes. A mechanistic understanding of these processes is limited, however, as structural information for the membrane ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
