The a-numbers of Fermat and Hurwitz curves [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2018
For an algebraic curve $\mathcal{X}$ defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p >0$, the $a$-number $a(\mathcal{X})$ is the dimension of the space of exact holomorphic differentials on $\mathcal{X}$. We compute the $a$-number for an infinite families of Fermat and Hurwitz curves.

a-numbers of curves in Artin–Schreier covers [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebra & Number Theory, 2020
Let $π: Y \to X$ be a branched $\mathbf{Z}/p \mathbf{Z}$-cover of smooth, projective, geometrically connected curves over a perfect field of characteristic $p>0$. We investigate the relationship between the $a$-numbers of $Y$ and $X$ and the ramification of the map $π$.

The \(a\)-number of Jacobians of certain maximal curves

open access: yesTransactions on Combinatorics, 2021
Summary: In this paper, we compute a formula for the \(a\)-number of certain maximal curves given by the equation \(y^q+y=x^{\frac{q+1}{2}}\) over the finite field \(\mathbb{F}_{q^2}\). The same problem is studied for the maximal curve corresponding to \(\sum_{t=1}^s y^{q/2^t}=x^{q+1}\) with \(q=2^s\), over the finite field \(\mathbb{F}_{q^2}\).

The Writhing Number of a Space Curve [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1971
A geometric invariant of a space curve, the writhing number, is defined and studied. For the central curve of a twisted cord the writhing number measures the extent to which coiling of the central curve has relieved local twisting of the cord. This study originated in response to questions that arise in the study of supercoiled double-stranded DNA ...

Determination of hydrologic soil group for the calculation of floods At Upper Brantas Watershed

open access: yesJurnal Sumber Daya Air, 2017
Dams are planned and built to be used for water resources activities. Besides the benefits, there were a great danger if the inability of the dam structure to holding the flood is available.

Soil hydrologic group detection based on geomorphologic facieses and slope (Case study: Taleghan Watershed, Iran) [PDF]

open access: yesDesert, 2011
The main goal of this paper is to propose a new practical method for hydrologic soil group estimation in surface runoff process based on geomorphology facieses and slop. The determination of CN based on this method can reduce the time and cost of project.
