Magnetic local time dependency on cusp ion velocity dispersions in the mid-altitude cusp [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Observations of cusp ion velocity dispersions made by the TIMAS instrument on the Polar spacecraft in the mid-altitude cusp during intervals of northward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) reveal a clear ordering with magnetic local time (MLT).

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

HCMU metrics with cusp singularities and conical singularities

open access: yes, 2013
An HCMU metric is a conformal metric which has a finite number of singularities on a compact Riemann surface and satisfies the equation of the extremal Kähler metric. In this paper, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a kind of HCMU metrics which has both cusp singularities and conical singularities.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Topological phases, quantum criticality, and bulk entanglement in spin-1/2 XX chain with anisotropic three-spin interactions

open access: yesResults in Physics
We investigate the one-dimensional spin-1/2 XX chain with anisotropic three-spin interactions, which hosts four distinct topological phases separated by critical lines.

Resurgence of the tilted cusp anomalous dimension [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical
We use resurgent extrapolation and continuation methods to extract detailed analytic information about the tilted cusp anomalous dimension solely from its weak coupling and strong coupling expansions.

Paclitaxel induces NM2‐dependent cellular contraction through GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and RhoA/ROCK activation in cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Taxanes are widely used chemotherapeutics whose effects on cellular mechanics remain poorly understood. We show that paclitaxel induces rapid cellular contraction by promoting GEF‐H1 dissociation from microtubules and non‐muscle myosin II activation through RhoA/ROCK.

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

De novo synthesis of short‐chain aldehydes and hydrocarbons secreted by the brown marmorated stink bug Halyomorpha halys

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, mainly secretes 4‐oxo‐(E)‐2‐hexenal, (E)‐2‐decenal, dodecane and tridecane, a mixture representative of that released by many heteropterans. We demonstrated that H. halys can synthesise these secretory components de novo using dietary glucose.
