Clines in cuticular hydrocarbons in two drosophila species with independent population histories [PDF]
We took a comparative approach utilizing clines to investigate the extent to which natural selection may have shaped population divergence in cuticular hydrocarbons (CHCs) that are also under sexual selection in Drosophila.

ABSTRACT Heavy metal (HM) contamination of soil–plant systems poses persistent ecological and health risks, driving interest in nanoparticle‐based remediation. Although conventional chemically synthesized nanoparticles (CSNPs) are effective, their energy‐intensive production and residual toxicity limit sustainable deployment.

Correlation between mandibular gland secretion and cuticular hydrocarbons in the stingless bee Melipona quadrifasciata [PDF]
We investigated whether Melipona quadrifasciata worker mandibular gland secretions contribute directly to their cuticular hydrocarbon profile. The mandibular gland secretion composition and cuticular surface compounds of newly emerged worker bees, nurse ...

ABSTRACT The review examines the evolution of chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CI‐MS), a technique developed in 1966 by Field and Munson. CI is a soft‐ionization method that produces more intense molecular ions with less fragmentation than electron ionization (EI).

This review systematically compares the size‐dependent toxicity of microplastics and nanoplastics in the intestine, liver, kidney, lung, and brain. Particle size determines bioavailability, barrier penetration, and injury mechanisms. Because of their small size and high surface reactivity, NPs readily cross the intestinal epithelium and blood–brain ...

Mating order and remating of females by males with different endosymbiont associations strongly shape Wolbachia‐induced cytoplasmic incompatibility, female fitness and offspring sex ratio. An incompatible first mating was weakly affected if followed by a compatible mating and vice versa, indicating strong first‐male sperm precedence with consequences ...

Identification of Orius spp. by Cuticular Hydrocarbons.
Orius spp. are promising natural enemies for control of thrips, harmful insect pests of vegetables. It is, however, extremely difficult to identify adult females of Orius spp. by their appearance. The composition of cuticular hydrocarbons in O. strigicollis, O. minutus and O. sauteri were analyzed by GC-MS. Major components were C27:1 and 2-MeC28 for O.
