PIK3CA Mutations Downregulate PPT1 to Promote Adipogenesis by Suppressing P300 Depalmitoylation and Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that somatic PIK3CA mutations suppress PPT1 expression via activation of the PI3K–AKT–c‐JUN axis. This reduction in PPT1 weakens its interaction with P300, thereby increasing palmitoylation at C1176 of P300 and protecting P300 from lysosomal degradation.

Functional screening of aldehyde decarbonylases for long-chain alkane production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Low catalytic activities of pathway enzymes are often a limitation when using microbial based chemical production. Recent studies indicated that the enzyme activity of aldehyde decarbonylase (AD) is a critical bottleneck for alkane ...

KLU/CYP78A5, a Cytochrome P450 Monooxygenase Identified via Fox Hunting, Contributes to Cuticle Biosynthesis and Improves Various Abiotic Stress Tolerances

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Acquired osmotolerance after salt stress is widespread among Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis) accessions. Most salt-tolerant accessions exhibit acquired osmotolerance, whereas Col-0 does not.

A novel dominant glossy mutation causes suppression of wax biosynthesis pathway and deficiency of cuticular wax in Brassica napus [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2013
Abstract Background The aerial parts of land plants are covered with cuticular waxes that limit non-stomatal water loss and gaseous exchange, and protect plants from ultraviolet radiation and pathogen attack. This is the first report on the characterization and genetic mapping of a novel dominant glossy mutant (BnaA ...

Linezolid‐mediated Prevention of Fibroblast Activation and Tissue Fibrosis via Mitochondrial Translation Inhibition

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Beyond its role as a ribosome‐targeting antibiotic, linezolid was recently shown to modulate immune responses by inhibiting mitochondrial translation. Because mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in various fibrotic diseases, including systemic sclerosis (SSc), this study aimed to evaluate the antifibrotic potential of linezolid and ...

Cuticular wax accumulation is associated with drought tolerance in wheat near-isogenic lines

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Previous studies have shown that wheat grain yield is seriously affected by drought stress, and leaf cuticular wax is reportedly associated with drought tolerance. However, most studies have focused on cuticular wax biosynthesis and model species.

Targeting neutrophil extracellular traps in metabolic and immune niche: Nanomaterials for diabetes tissue regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The effects of NETs on regeneration of various diabetic tissues, and strategies targeting NETs for diabetes tissue regeneration. In the diabetic environment, NETs undergo complex metabolic and immune reprogramming, leading to dynamic changes in antibacterial and proinflammatory functions, and affecting regeneration of multiple systemic tissues.

Genome-wide analysis of the WSD family in sunflower and functional identification of HaWSD9 involvement in wax ester biosynthesis and osmotic stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The wax esters are important cuticular wax composition that cover the outer surface of plant organs and play a critical role in protection and energy metabolism.
