Microglial dynamics and ferroptosis induction in human iPSC‐derived neuron–astrocyte–microglia tri‐cultures

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A tri‐culture of iPSC‐derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia treated with ferroptosis inducers as an Induced ferroptosis model was characterized by scRNA‐seq, cell survival, and cytokine release assays. This analysis revealed diverse microglial transcriptomic changes, indicating that the system captures key aspects of the complex cellular ...

Research on cutting performance of micro-texturing tools for cutting aluminum alloys

open access: yesMechanics & Industry
To address the common issues of high cutting forces, poor surface quality, and chip wrapping in aluminium alloy machining, this study innovatively designed two types of micro-groove textures on the tool surface based on the natural flow direction of ...

Towards self-optimizing and self-adaptive milling processes [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a novel control architecture system which is composed of a multi-objective cost function which Pareto optimises the programming of cutting parameters while adapting the milling process to new cutting conditions if new constraints ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Enhancing cutting performance of cemented carbide rotary burrs through coupled electromagnetic treatments of the burrs

open access: yesManufacturing Review
Rotary burrs made of WC-8Co cemented carbide are widely used in automated filing systems, yet rapid cutting-edge wear significantly limits their performance. For this purpose, coupled electromagnetic treatments were applied to the WC-8Co cemented carbide

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...
