Tropical and Subtropical Fruit Propagation

open access: yesEDIS, 2019
Propagation is an important technique used by tropical and subtropical fruit growers worldwide, allowing plants to be grown cheaply and efficiently. While sexual propagation (by seed) results in plants that are not genetically the same as the mother ...

THE EFFECT OF THE CUTTING METHOD ON ROOTING OF Dahlia pinnata Cav. CUTTINGS

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2017
Dahlias are propagated through stem cuttings. In the years 2003–2005, in a glasshouse of the Experimental Station in Felin, University of Life Sciences in Lublin, the research was conducted to evaluate rooting of different types of dahlia cuttings.

Selective wear of cuttings elements of working organs of tillage machines with realization of self-sharpening effect [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The clause of strengthening of cuttings elements is conditioning and realization of such selforganization process as a self-sharpening. Sharpening of horizontal and vertical cuttings elements of working organs of tillage machines (CE WOTM) is considered ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Adventitious roots development and root system architecture of Chrysanthemum cuttings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Development, 2018
Chrysanthemum have significant ornamental value and thus have a great economic importance and are also subjected to losses due to the insufficient rooting of the cuttings - the main method of vegetative propagation practiced for this crop.

Enhancing the performance of Xanthan gum in water-based mud systems using an environmentally friendly biopolymer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Xanthan gum is commonly used in drilling fluids to provide viscosity, solid suspension, and fluid-loss control. However, it is sensitive to high temperatures and not tolerant of field contaminants. This paper presents an experimental study on the effects

Cutting Corners

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 1999
First of all in this paper some notions and terms are introduced: corner cut polyhedron \(P_n^d (\subset\mathbb{R}^d)\); \({\mathbb{N}^d \choose n}\) -- set of \(n\)-element subsets of \(\mathbb{N}^d\) (with nonnegative integer vectors); staircase; \({\mathbb{N}^d\choose n}_{\text{stair}}\) -- set of finite subsets of staircases from \({\mathbb{N}^d ...
