Field studies of the detection, persistence and spread of the Rispens CVI988 vaccine virus and the extent of co‐infection with Marek's disease virus

Australian Veterinary Journal, 2016
ObjectiveTo use specific real‐time qPCR to determine (1) the vaccination success of Rispens CVI988 vaccine in feathers and dust; (2) persistence of Rispens infection in vaccinated layer chickens; (3) extent of co‐infection with wild‐type Marek's disease virus (MDV) in vaccinated layers; and (4) presence of Rispens virus in unvaccinated broiler flocks ...

Vaccination-challenge interval markedly influences protection provided by Rispens CVI988 vaccine against very virulent Marek's disease virus challenge

Avian Pathology, 2013
The Rispens (CVI988) vaccine is widely used to vaccinate chickens worldwide. We tested the protective effects of the Rispens vaccine against challenge with very virulent Marek's disease virus (vvMDV) at various intervals at, before or after vaccination. The experiment used commercial ISA Brown layers and vvMDV isolate 02LAR.

[Kinase domain analysis of MDV-1 CVI988/Rispens UL13 and preferred codon fragments expression in Escherichia coli].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2009
To find catalytic center of MDV-1 UL13 and express it in vitro to investigate the function of UL13 kinase.UL13 gene was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from MDV-1 CVI988/Rispens strain. The codon bias and antigenicity of UL13 in Escherichia coli was analyzed by online service GENEART (www.gcua.de)and DNAstar software respectively. Then the

Optimizing protocols for monitoring in vivo replication of a novel chimeric Marek’s disease vaccine with an insertion of the long terminal repeat of reticuloendotheliosis virus in the CVI988 strain genome (CVI-LTR)

Avian Pathology
Monitoring Marek's disease (MD) vaccination is routinely done by evaluating the load of MD vaccine in the feather pulp (FP) between 7 and 10 days of age. However, attempts in our laboratory to detect a novel CVI-LTR vaccine in the FP samples from commercial flocks failed.
