Breakpoint Mapping and Disrupted Gene Identification in Azoospermic Patients With Chromosomal Balanced Translocation by Nanopore Sequencing

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study employed nanopore long‐read sequencing to achieve single‐base‐pair resolution breakpoint mapping in azoospermic patients with chromosomal balanced translocations, revealing cryptic breakpoints and an inverted insertion undetectable by conventional karyotyping.

Iontophoresis CXL With and Without Epithelial Debridement Versus Standard CXL: 2-Year Clinical Results of a Prospective Clinical Study

open access: yes, 2019
PURPOSE: To compare the 2-year follow-up outcomes of three groups of patients with keratoconus treated with transepithelial iontophoresis (I-CXL), iontophoresis with epithelial removal (I-SCXL), and standard epithelium-off (S-CXL) CXL for progressive ...

Study of Risk Factors and Image Findings of Isolated Abdominal Incidentally Detected Aortic Dissection

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 429-435, March/April 2025.
We detect the risk factors and image characteristics of incidentally detected IAAD. Independent risk factors of IAAD included fatty liver and smoking. In the ultrasound findings of IAAD, an intimal flap was frequently observed. In the CT scan, displacement of intimal calcifications was frequently observed. For suspected IAAD, the abdominal aorta should

Correlations Among Glycemia and Glucose Variability, Thyroid Hormones, and Albuminuria in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hyperglycemia, glucose fluctuations, and thyroid dysfunction contribute to the progression of diabetic nephropathy. This study aimed to investigate the associations of glycemia, glucose variability, and thyroid hormones with albuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In total, 451 T2DM patients were included.

Combined application of Bacillus velezensis JDB15 and Trichoderma harzianum JDL4 suppresses banana Fusarium wilt under controlled conditions

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The surfactin C secreted by JDB15 and the probable parasitism of JDL4 lead to the leakage of intracellular macromolecules and the degradation of hyphae, respectively. Combined application of the two strains effectively controls banana Fusarium wilt under controlled conditions.

Corneal transplantation: Restoring sight to the blind

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Corneal blindness is one of the leading causes of vision loss worldwide. Transplantation of the cornea can restore vision and make blind patients see again. Corneal transplant surgery has undergone major evolution in recent decades with the advent of minimally invasive lamellar surgical approaches such as DMEK and DALK.

Repeatability of interpolated corneal tomography maps in healthy and keratoconus corneas before and after crosslinking

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the repeatability of interpolated Pentacam HR elevation, densitometry and anterior chamber depth (ACD) map data before and after customized corneal crosslinking (CXL) in keratoconus (KC) and healthy eyes with low‐grade myopia (MY), including effects of KC severity.
