Wacker Oxidation of Trisubstituted Alkenes: Pd(II)‐Catalyzed Oxidative Ring Expansion of Exocyclic α,β‐Unsaturated Carbonyl to 2‐Fluoro‐1,3‐Dicarbonyl Compounds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
First examples of Pd(II)‐catalyzed Wacker oxidation of trisubstituted alkenes, coupled with electrophilic fluorination, enable a one‐carbon ring expansion of exocyclic α,β‐unsaturated carbonyls to 2‐fluoro‐2‐acyl‐cycloalkanones. Abstract The Wacker oxidation is a powerful synthetic method widely employed for the transformation of monosubstituted ...

Radical Ring‐Opening Reaction of Non‐Activated Oximes Catalyzed by Aldoxime Dehydratases

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A novel catalytic mode of aldoxime dehydratases for the abiotic radical ring‐opening reaction of cyclic ketoximes is reported. Aldoxime dehydratase from Nocardioides simplex was found to efficiently generate iminyl radicals from challenging “non‐activated” cycloketone oximes and to promote radical ring‐opening reactions to produce γ‐ and ε‐sulfinylated

SmI2‐Catalyzed Coupling of Alkyl Housane Ketones and Alkenes in an Approach to Norbornanes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Samarium diiodide (Sml2) is an effective catalyst for the mild, atom‐economical coupling of bicyclo[2.1.0]pentane, or housane, ketones, and electron‐deficient alkenes to give functionalized norbornane structural motifs not easily accessible by classical cycloaddition approaches.

Ligand‐Enabled Chemo‐ and Regioselective Ir(I)‐Catalyzed Intermolecular Hydrocarbonation of Allenes: Access to Branched Products with All‐Carbon Quaternary Centers

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Ir(I) catalysts featuring the electron‐deficient bisphosphine ligand dFppe promote the hydrocarbonation of allenes with precise control over the selectivity to yield highly valuable branched products. This reaction is highly effective with C(3)‐dialkylcarboxamidepyrroles as well as with other C─H donors, such as furans and α,β‐unsaturated carboxamides.

Toward Bimetallic Nanowire Arrays with Controlled Compositions Using Block Copolymer Films: The Interplay Between Metal Precursors

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Co‐impregnation of block copolymer films enables the creation of ordered arrays of bimetallic nanowires (NWs). The dependence of the NW composition on the feed revealed direct and indirect modes of mutual influence between the metal precursors stemming from the types of interactions involved.
