Cyclic shakedown of piles subjected to two‐dimensional lateral loading
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 2009AbstractPile foundations are frequently subjected to cyclic lateral loads. Wave and wind loads on offshore structures will be applied in different directions and times during the design life of a structure. Therefore, the magnitude and direction of these loads in conjunction with the dead loads should be considered.

Lateral Instability and Lateral Bracing of Steel Beams Subjected to Cyclic Loading
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2002This paper presents an analytical study of the lateral–torsional instability and lateral bracing effects of wide-flange steel beams subjected to cyclic loading. Numerical analysis using the large deformation theory was conducted to collect the necessary data. Examined were wide-flange steel beams bent in double curvature and subjected to cyclic loading

Laterally cyclic loading of monopile in dense sand
2011In order to investigate the response from laterally cyclic loading of monopiles a large centrifuge tests series is ongoing at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This paper will present some of the tests carried out with a focus on the influence of accumulation of rotation when changing the loading conditions.

Numerical Analysis of Piles Under Cyclic Lateral Load
Indian Geotechnical Journal, 2013The paper presents the results to study the response of piles in homogeneous and layered soils subjected to quasi-static and cyclic lateral loading using numerical analysis. The analyses are carried out using three-dimensional finite element software, ABAQUS v6.10.

Mid-length lateral deflection of cyclically-loaded braces
Steel and Composite Structures, 2015This study explores the lateral deflections of diagonal braces in concentrically-braced earthquake-resisting frames. The performance of this widely-used system is often compromised by the flexural buckling of slender braces in compression. In addition to reducing the compressive resistance, buckling may also cause these members to undergo sizeable ...

Increasing the Resistance of Piles Subject to Cyclic Lateral Loading
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2011Small-scale tests were carried out on a monopile and fin piles to determine the effect the length of fins had upon the lateral displacement of cyclically loaded piles. A variety of loading conditions were applied to model piles in a dense sand by using a mechanical loading system.

Macro Element for Pile Head Cyclic Lateral Loading
2011Interaction between laterally loaded piles and the surrounding soil is a complex phenomenon, particularly when nonlinear soil behaviour is involved; so complex that usually design calculations rely on computer software based on discrete spring formulations using empirically derived nonlinear p-y relationships.

Cyclic Lateral Load Behavior of a Pile Cap and Backfill
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2006A series of static cyclic lateral load tests were performed on a full-scale 4×3 pile group driven into a cohesive soil profile. Twelve 324-mm steel pipe piles were attached to a concrete pile cap 5.18×3.05 m in plan and 1.12 m in height. Pile–soil–pile interaction and passive earth pressure provided lateral resistance.

Lateral Response of Socketed Pile Under Cyclic Load
2017The pile, carrying large axial and lateral load is often subjected to lateral cyclic load due to the wave action of water, glacier movement and by heavy wind action. Transfer of heavy load requires the pile to socket into the hard stratum. The existing p-y curve for socketed pile gives an approximate solution under static load.
