Control of cell mobility by cyclic AMP
Journal of Cell Science, 1984ABSTRACT Cyclic AMP concentrations have been measured in a number of different cell types under a variety of culture conditions in an attempt to define the relationship between the endogenous concentration of cyclic AMP and cell mobility.

Optimization of a cyclic queue for mobile dentistry
Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Queueing Theory and Network Applications, 2011We consider the allocation of mobile dentistry resources to a scattered population. A cyclic queueing network is used to model the allocation process. The resulting model may be transformed to a geometric program. Numerical results are given.

Factors Affecting Liquefaction and Cyclic Mobility
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1977Liquefaction is a phenomenon wherein a saturated mass of sand loses a large percentage of its shear resistance and flows in a manner resembling a liquid until the shear stresses acting on the mass are as low as its reduced shear resistance. Cyclic mobility is the progressive softening of a saturated sand specimen when subjected to cyclic loading at ...

N.m.r. studies of internal mobility in a cyclic tetrapeptide
International Journal of Peptide and Protein Research, 1989The conformation of cyclo(D‐Phe‐D‐Pro‐Ala‐Pro) is reported. Measurements of spin‐lattice relaxation in the rotating frame indicate that this peptide is conformationally less mobile on the microsecond time scale than larger cyclic peptides previously studied.

Liquefaction, Cyclic Mobility, and Failure of Silt
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 2006It is known that the mechanical properties of low-plasticity silt are similar to those of sand, and yet silts are frequently used as coastal reclamation materials in many cities and industrial areas and will thus be susceptible to liquefaction. Samples of a low-plasticity silt have been tested under monotonic and cyclic loading under isotropic and ...

Cyclic ADP-Ribose: Metabolism and Calcium Mobilizing Function
1994Publisher Summary This chapter describes the discovery of cyclic adenosine diphosphate–ribose (cADPR) as a novel endogenous Ca 2+ -mobilizing agent, and the way by which it fulfills most of the criteria necessary for it to be considered a second messenger. The enzymatic pathways for the synthesis and degradation of the metabolite are also summarized.

Cyclic mobility response of a dense sand stratum
Computers and Geotechnics, 1991Abstract The cyclic mobility response of a dense sand stratum is examined using a semi-empirical effective stress model. The model is based on two families of intersecting yield loci, one for loading and the other for unloading. The yield loci are generated from Cam Clay type energy balance equations and the associated flow rule.

Liquefaction and Cyclic Mobility of Saturated Sands
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1975Saturated sands subjected to earthquake loadings can develop two different phenomena, i.e., liquefaction and cyclic mobility. Liquefaction can develop only in loose sands and its mechanism is related to the critical state of the sand. Cyclic mobility can develop in any sand.

Cyclical Dimensions of Labour Mobility after EU Enlargement [PDF]
This paper explores the influence of the economic cycle on labour mobility within the EU, focusing on the likely impact of the present economic crisis. To do so, we use an econometrically calibrated simulation and a case study of Ireland. We find that, in the short run, the crisis is likely to lead to a somewhat lower stock of migrants from the new ...
