Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Alloy composition effects on oxidation products of VIA, B-1900, 713C, and 738X: A high temperature diffractometer study [PDF]

open access: yes
High temperature X-ray diffraction studies were performed to investigate isothermal and cyclic oxidation at 1000 and 1100 C of the nickel-base superalloys VIA, B-1900, 713C, and 738X. Oxidation was complex. The major oxides, Al2O3, Cr2O3, and the spinels,

First row transition metal catalysts for solar-driven water oxidation produced by electrodeposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
As our reliance on renewable energy resources increases, so will our need to store this energy in the form of chemical fuels to iron-out peaks and troughs in supply.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Fate of Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids in Soil: Insights from Myosotis arvensis L. and Senecio vulgaris L.

open access: yesToxins
Pyrrolizidine alkaloids are plant-derived toxins with environmental persistence and the potential to contaminate soil, water, and adjacent crops. This study investigated the leaching behavior and environmental fate of PAs from two PA-producing weeds ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Synthesis and systematic study of Co₃O₄-based catalysts for oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
textCo₃O₄-based composite materials are good electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline solutions.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Modified ferritic iron alloys with improved high-temperature mechanical properties and oxidation resistance [PDF]

open access: yes
An alloy modification program was conducted in which the compositions of two existing Fe-Cr-Al alloys (Armco 18SR and GE-1541) were changed to achieve either improved high-temperature strength or improved fabricability.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...
