Synthesis of alpha-aspartyl-containing cyclic peptides

open access: yes, 1997
alpha-Aspartyl-containing cyclic pentapeptides were synthesised in high yields using a strategy that maintained fluorenylmethyl protection on the aspartic acid side chain during chain assembly, resin cleavage and cyclisation of the linear precursors ...

Synthesis of Cyclic Hexapeptides via the Hydrazide Method and Evaluation of Their Antibacterial Activities

open access: yesMolecules
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have emerged as promising candidates in the fight against multidrug-resistant pathogens due to their broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and low potential for resistance development.

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Innate Immune Reprogramming Mediated by Endogenous Retroelement Dysregulation Drives Multiple Sclerosis Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Epigenetic reprogramming in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and downstream myeloid cells, mediated by H3.3 downregulation and endogenous retroelement (ERE) overexpression, contributes to the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). ABSTRACT Background Skewed myelopoiesis in the bone marrow has been identified as a key driver of multiple ...

Characterisation of cyclic peptides binding serum albumin

open access: yes
reservedSerum Albumin (SA) is a non-glycosylated globular protein composed of three homologous domains in a heart-shaped globular form. SA is the most abundant protein in plasma and lymphatic system with a a maximum circulatory half-life of 19 days in ...

Cyclic Peptides: From Bioorganic Synthesis to Applications:The Biosynthesis of Cyclic Peptides – RiPPs – an Overview

open access: yes, 2017
Cyclic peptides are increasingly employed as chemical tools in biology and drug discovery. They have gained a lot of interest as alternative sources of new drugs to traditional small molecules. This book introduces cyclic peptides and provides a thorough

Recent advancement of cyanobactins and cyanobactin prenyltransferases from 2021 to 2024

open access: yesFrontiers in Natural Products
Macrocyclic compounds have emerged in the 21st century, among which cyclic peptides are of particular interest. Cyanobactins are ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs), many of which exist as cyclic peptides with a ...

Combining Three Peripheral Blood Biomarkers to Stratify Rheumatoid Arthritis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The purpose was to evaluate a biomarker score consisting of MUC5B rs35705950 promoter variant, plasma matrix metalloproteinase‐7 (MMP‐7), and serum anti–malondialdehyde‐acetaldehyde (anti‐MAA) antibody for rheumatoid arthritis (RA)–associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) risk stratification.
