Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Competition between plasticity-controlled and crack-growth controlled failure in static and cyclic fatigue of thermoplastic polymer systems

open access: yes, 2016
Creep rupture (plasticity controlled failure) and slow crack growth are two important failure mechanisms that limit the lifetime of polymer constructions under load.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Numerical simulation of ratcheting and fatigue behaviour of mitred pipe bends under in-plane bending and internal pressure

open access: yes, 2013
This paper investigates the ratcheting and fatigue behaviour of 90 degree single unreinforced mitred pipe bends subjected to a cyclic in-plane closing moment with a non-zero mean value and constant internal pressure. An experiment was conducted to induce

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Fatigue Performance of 6063-T66 Aluminum Alloy under Combined Cyclic Loading of Parent and Welded Specimens

open access: yes, 2012
The article deals with the determining of fatigue lifetime of structural materials during multiaxial cyclic loading. The aim of this investigation is to evaluate the influence on fatigue behavior of the welded aluminum alloy EN AW 6063-T66.

Cyclic peptide membrane permeability prediction using deep learning model based on molecular attention transformer

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioinformatics
Membrane permeability is a critical bottleneck in the development of cyclic peptide drugs. Experimental membrane permeability testing is costly, and precise in silico prediction tools are scarce.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Ultra High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete under Cyclic Loading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) is a novel cementitious material with enhanced strength in tension and compression, and significantly high energy absorption in the postcracking region.
