Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Approximate Analysis Of Multiqueue Systems With Multiple Cyclic Servers

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we consider an approximate model of a system of multiple queues served cyclically by a number of identical servers, which is an extension of the Kuehn model for the single server multiqueueing system.

Evolution of Longitudinal Resistance Performance of Granular Ballast Track with Durable Dynamic Reciprocated Changes

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
A full-scale test model with a distinct loading system is developed to analyze the dynamic change process of ballast beds under cyclic longitudinal reciprocated loading.

Measuring Performance of Virtual Keyboards Based on Cyclic Scanning [PDF]

open access: yes2009 Fifth International Conference on Autonomic and Autonomous Systems, 2009
This paper presents an exhaustive study into the different topologies of virtual ambiguous keyboards that operate by scanning techniques, analyzing the text entry average time (tc) and the average number of user inputs (UIc) per character. An mathematical model shows that in comparison with unambiguous one, text entry, in multi-tap mode, doesn’t offers

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Low-cycle fatigue behaviour of Mg-9Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.5Zr alloys with different structures

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys, 2023
The strain-controlled cyclic deformation behaviour of Mg-9Gd-4Y-2Zn-0.5Zr with different structures was investigated. Alloys were prepared by solution, extrusion and pre-ageing extrusion, and the microstructures before and after the fatigue tests were ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Experimental study of bond-slip performance of corroded reinforced concrete under cyclic loading

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
Reinforced concrete structures exposed to marine environment often sustain high levels of chloride-induced reinforcement corrosion, which causes reinforcement corrosion and resulting in degraded performance under cyclic service loading.
