Certain amplified genomic-DNA fragments (AGFs) may be involved in cell cycle progression and chloroquine is found to induce the production of cell-cycle-associated AGFs (CAGFs) in Plasmodium falciparum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
It is well known that cyclins are a family of proteins that control cell-cycle progression by activating cyclin-dependent kinase. Based on our experimental results, we propose here a novel hypothesis that certain amplified genomic-DNA fragments (AGFs) may also be required for the cell cycle progression of eukaryotic cells and thus can be named as cell ...

On the structure of Ammann A2 tilings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We establish a structure theorem for the family of Ammann A2 tilings of the plane. Using that theorem we show that every Ammann A2 tiling is self-similar in the sense of [B. Solomyak, Nonperiodicity implies unique composition for self-similar translationally finite tilings, Discrete and Computational Geometry 20 (1998) 265-279].

Invariant subspaces for some surface groups acting on A2-Euclidean buildings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
This paper deals with non-Archimedean representations of punctured surface groups in PGL(3), associated actions on Euclidean buildings (of type A2), and degenerations of real convex projective structures on surfaces. The main result is that, under good conditions on Fock-Goncharov generalized shear parameters, non-Archimedean representations acting on ...

Sum of squared logarithms - An inequality relating positive definite matrices and their matrix logarithm [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Let y1, y2, y3, a1, a2, a3 > 0 be such that y1 y2 y3 = a1 a2 a3 and y1 + y2 + y3 >= a1 + a2 + a3, y1 y2 + y2 y3 + y1 y3 >= a1 a2 + a2 a3 + a1 a3. Then the following inequality holds (log y1)^2 + (log y2)^2 + (log y3)^2 >= (log a1)^2 + (log a2)^2 + (log a3)^2.

The cycline subalgebra of a Kumjian-Pask algebra [PDF]

open access: yesProc. Amer. Math. Soc. 145 (2017), no. 5, 1969-1980, 2016
Let $\Lambda$ be a row-finite higher-rank graph with no sources. We identify a maximal commutative subalgebra $\mathcal{M}$ inside the Kumjian-Pask algebra ${\rm KP}_R(\Lambda)$. We also prove a generalized Cuntz-Krieger uniqueness theorem for Kumjian-Pask algebras which says that a representation of ${\rm KP}_R(\Lambda)$ is injective if and only if it

Differential expression of cyclin A2 in triple negative breast cancer.

open access: yes, 2021
Women diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer can benefit neither from endocrine therapy nor from HER2-targeted therapies (1). We mined published microarray datasets (2, 3) to determine in an unbiased fashion and at the systems level genes most differentially expressed in the primary tumors of patients with breast cancer.

Ethylene-Mediated Regulation of A2-Type CYCLINs Modulates Hyponastic Growth in Arabidopsis

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2015
Abstract Upward leaf movement (hyponastic growth) is frequently observed in response to changing environmental conditions and can be induced by the phytohormone ethylene. Hyponasty results from differential growth (i.e. enhanced cell elongation at the proximal abaxial side of the petiole relative to the adaxial side).

Phase Transitions in Systems of Interacting Species [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We discuss an autocatalytic reaction system: the cyclic competition model A1 + A2 --> 2 A2, A2 + A3 --> 2 A3, A3 + A4 --> 2 A4, A4 + A1 --> 2 A1), as well as its neutral counterpart. Migrations are introduced into the model. When stochastic phenomena are taken into account, a phase transition between a ``fixation'' and a ``neutral'' regime is observed.

BrunoL1 regulates endoderm proliferation through translational enhancement of cyclin A2 mRNA

open access: yesDevelopmental Biology, 2010
Developmental control of proliferation relies on tight regulation of protein expression. Although this has been well studied in early embryogenesis, how the cell cycle is regulated during organogenesis is not well understood. Bruno-Like RNA binding proteins bind to consensus sequences in the 3'UTR of specific mRNAs and repress protein translation, but ...
