Derivatives of beta-cyclodextrin differing in the length of a hydroxyalkyl substituent (CH2CH2OH, CH2CHOHCH3, CH2CHOHCH2CH2CH2CH3) or in the electrical charge of the substituents (SO4-, CH2CHOHCH2N(CH3)3+) and hydroxypropyl derivatives (CH2CHOHCH3) of alpha-, beta-, and gamma-cyclodextrin were compared, individually and in mixtures, as solubilizers of ...

Heterodimerization of Dye-Modified Cyclodextrins with Native Cyclodextrins
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2002The heterodimerization behavior of dye-modified beta-cyclodextrins (1-6) with native cyclodextrins (CDs) was investigated by means of absorption and induced circular dichroism spectroscopy in an aqueous solution. Three types of azo dye-modified beta-CDs (1-3) show different association behaviors, depending on the positional difference and the ...

The Pharmacokinetics of β-Cyclodextrin and Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin in the Rat
Pharmaceutical Research, 1990Hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin was analyzed by HPLC using postcolumn complexation with phenolphthalein and negative colorimetric detection, with a detection limit of 20 micrograms/ml. The pharmacokinetics of beta-cyclodextrin and of hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin were studied after intravenous administration to permanently cannulated rats.

Interactions of pyrene with cyclodextrins and polymeric cyclodextrins
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1993Interactions of α- and β-cyclodextrin (CD) and polymerically linked β-CDs [CD-CH 2 O(CH 2 CHOHCH 2 O) m ] n with pyrene were studied using luminescence intensity and lifetime measurements. For the monomeric CDs, both single and double capping of the pyrene were unambiguously observed.

Electrochemistry of cyclodextrins and cyclodextrin inclusion complexes
Electroanalysis, 1991AbstractThe state of the art of the electrochemistry of α‐, β‐, and γ‐cyclodextrins (CDs) and cyclodextrin inclusion complexes and their polarographic and voltammetric assay are reviewed. The polarographic and voltammetric determination of physicochemical parameters of CD inclusion complexes are discussed.

Functional cyclodextrins. 1. Chloroacetylated cyclodextrins
Die Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie, 1998The paper discusses the synthesis of the chloroacetylated derivatives of α-, β- and γ-cyclodextrins. These novel functionalized products can be used both in the synthesis of some conjugates with bioactive substances by covalent bonding and/or for inclusion of hydrophobic compounds.
