Hydrogen Radical Detection in Mild Catalytic Reactions: Background C‐H Activation in Solvents

open access: yesChemCatChem, Accepted Article.
Platinum group metal (PGM) nanoparticle catalysts are commonly used in a wide variety of liquid‐phase hydrogenation reactions. Carbon‐supported palladium nanoparticles are used extensively in many industrially applied hydrogenation reactions across the pharmaceutical industry and increasingly in the hydrogenolysis of bio‐derived molecules.

Mitochondria‐Catalyzed Activation of Anticancer Prodrugs

open access: yesChemCatChem, Accepted Article.
Mitochondria mediate electron transport chain (ETC) to power ATP synthase. In cancer cells, the ETC is disturbed leading to leakage of electron that ultimately results in generation of H2O2. This difference between cancer and healthy cells can be used for the design of cancer‐specific prodrugs as confirmed in several proof‐of‐concept studies ...

Organo‐, Metal‐, and Enzyme‐Mediated Stereoselective Transformations of α‐Angelica Lactone

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
α‐Angelica lactone is a readily available small molecule from biomass source, which, coupled with cheapness and versatile reactivity, attracted significant interest for applications in asymmetric synthesis. In this minireview, stereoselective organo‐, metal‐, and enzymatic‐based approaches for the construction of new butenolide‐containing heterocycles,

Direct CO2 Hydrogenation to Aromatics Using ZnO/t‐ZrO2 and Zeolite Bifunctional Catalysts

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
This study investigates parameters such as temperature, pressure, and acidity for optimizing CO2 to aromatics conversion via methanol using ZnO/t‐ZrO2 and zeolites. High hydrogen pressure improves CO2 conversion but reduces aromatic selectivity. The highest selectivity (33.2%) occurs at low CO2 conversion. Industrialization of the bifunctional catalyst
