A Case Study of Waste Scrap Tyre-Derived Carbon Black Tested for Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, and Cyclohexane Adsorption

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Waste scrap tyres were thermally decomposed at the temperature of 600 °C and heating rate of 10 °C·min−1. Decomposition was followed by the TG analysis. The resulting pyrolytic carbon black was chemically activated by a KOH solution at 800 °C.

Switchable Imbibition in Nanoporous Gold

open access: yes, 2014
Spontaneous imbibition enables the elegant propelling of nano-flows because of the dominance of capillarity at small length scales. The imbibition kinetics are, however, solely determined by the static geometry of the porous host, the capillarity, and ...

Phosphate Monoester Hydrolysis in Cyclohexane [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2009
The hydrolysis of simple phosphate monoesters is among the most difficult reactions that are subject to catalysis by enzymes, and it has been suggested that extraction of the substrates from solvent water may contribute to the catalytic effects of phosphohydrolases.

Gold nanoparticles supported on mesoporous silica: origin of high activity and role of Au NPs in selective oxidation of cyclohexane

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2016
Homogeneous immobilization of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) on mesoporous silica has been achieved by using a one-pot synthesis method in the presence of organosilane mercapto-propyl-trimethoxysilane (MPTMS).

All‐Inorganic InP/ZnSe/ZnS Quantum Dots with Chalcogenidometallate Ligands for Biosolar Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic charge transfer limitations in core/shell QDs are addressed through a ligand‐induced band offset engineering (LBOE) strategy utilizing metal chalcogenide complex (MCC) ligands. The MCC‐functionalized InP/ZnSe/ZnS QDs exhibited remarkably augmented hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) generation.

The choice of possible entrainers for the extractive distillation of binary mixture benzene – cyclohexane

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2011
The approaches to the formation of a set of possible entrainers for extractive distillation of the binary mixture benzene - cyclohexane are considered. The approaches are based on the analyses of concentration dependence of different excess thermodynamic

Antitumor Profile of Carbon-Bridged Steroids (CBS) and Triterpenoids

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2021
This review focuses on the rare group of carbon-bridged steroids (CBS) and triterpenoids found in various natural sources such as green, yellow-green, and red algae, marine sponges, soft corals, ascidians, starfish, and other marine invertebrates.

Biomimetic Scaffolds with Dual Gradients of Biological Effectors for Tendon‐to‐Bone Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The authors have developed a biomimetic scaffold with dual gradients through a diffusion‐driven method. The scaffold features funnel‐shaped microchannels for cell infiltration, while the dual gradients synergetically induce the graded differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, and tenocytes, allowing for a seamless ...

Two-Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy of Chlorophyll a: Solvent Dependent Spectral Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The interaction of the monomeric chlorophyll Q-band electronic transition with solvents of differing physical-chemical properties is investigated through two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES). Chlorophyll constitutes the key chromophore molecule
