Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Vicinal Deuterium Perturbations on Hydrogen NMR Chemical Shifts in Cyclohexanes

open access: yes, 2016
The substitution of a deuterium for a hydrogen is known to perturb the NMR chemical shift of a neighboring hydrogen atom. The magnitude of such a perturbation may depend on the specifics of bonding and stereochemical relationships within a molecule.

Co1/Ru Single‐Atom Alloy Catalyst for Sustainable Polypropylene Hydrogenolysis to Long‐Chain Liquid Products

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A titania‐supported Co1/Ru single‐atom alloy catalyst enables efficient polypropylene hydrogenolysis. Ru─Co─Ru motifs maintain Ru activity while suppressing excessive chain scission to gaseous products. Both virgin and waste plastics achieve high, environmentally and economically optimal C11+ liquid yields, supporting sustainable chemical recycling ...

Fluorinated cyclohexanes: Synthesis of amine building blocks of the all-cis 2,3,5,6-tetrafluorocyclohexylamine motif

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2017
This paper reports the synthesis of three amine stereoisomers 5a–c of the tetrafluorocyclohexyl ring system, as building blocks for discovery chemistry programmes. The synthesis starts from a Birch reduction of benzonitrile, followed by an in situ methyl

Kinetics of Decomposition and Isomerization of Methylcyclohexane: Starting Point for Studying Monoalkylated Cyclohexanes Combustion

open access: yes, 2015
Monoalkylated cyclohexanes are one of the typical constituents existing in practical fuels, especially in jet fuel. As the first step to study the combustion chemistry of monoalkylated cyclohexanes, the unimolecular reactions of methylcyclohexane (MCH ...

Flexible Pressure Sensor With Co‐Optimized Sensitivity and Linearity Based on Gradient Toroidal Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible piezoresistive pressure sensor with gradient toroidal CNT/PDMS microstructures is reported. The hierarchical geometry enables sequential electrode contact, achieving a sensitivity of 256.20 kPa−1 and linear response (R2 = 0.99) over 0–1000 kPa.

Exploring the Synergy of Combining BINAP and tCzBN Motifs Within Multi‐Resonant TADF Emitters to Enhance OLED Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents two MR‐TADF emitters, BINAP‐BN1 and BINAP‐BN2, based on a BINAP core and differing numbers of tCzBN units. Both emitters show similar solution photophysics, but distinct behavior in doped films, where BINAP‐BN1 exhibits higher photoluminescence quantum yield and suppressed aggregation‐induced emission broadening compared to BINAP‐BN2.

A Comparative Study of the Catalytic Behaviour of Alkoxy-1,3,5-Triazapentadiene Copper(II) Complexes in Cyclohexane Oxidation

open access: yesInorganics, 2019
The mononuclear copper complexes [Cu{NH=C(OR)NC(OR)=NH}2] with alkoxy-1,3,5-triazapentadiene ligands that have different substituents (R = Me (1), Et (2), nPr (3), iPr (4), CH2CH2OCH3 (5)) were prepared, characterized (including the single crystal X-ray ...
