Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Expression of Cyclooxygenase-1 and Cyclooxygenase-2 in normal and pathological human oral mucosa

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2010
Cyclooxigenase (COX) is the rate-limiting enzyme for the conversion of arachidonic acid (AA) to prostaglandins(PGs). Two isoforms of COX have been identified: COX-1 is constitutively expressed in many cells and is involved in cellhomeostasis ...

Platelet-Activating Factor-Induced Reduction in Contact Hypersensitivity Responses Is Mediated by Mast Cells via Cyclooxygenase-2-Dependent Mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Platelet-activating factor (PAF) stimulates numerous cell types via activation of the G protein-coupled PAF receptor (PAFR). PAFR activation not only induces acute proinflammatory responses, but it also induces delayed systemic immunosuppressive effects ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Differential pharmacokinetics and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modelling of robenacoxib and ketoprofen in a feline model of inflammation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Robenacoxib and ketoprofen are acidic nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Both are licensed for once daily administration in the cat, despite having short blood half‐lives.

Effects of 1,8-Cineole on the Activity of Cyclooxygenase and Cyclooxygenase 1 and Cyclooxygenase 2 Isoforms

open access: yesNatural Products Chemistry & Research, 2017
Purpose: The anti-inflammatory effects of 1,8‑cineole (eucalyptol) in the treatment of acute bronchitis and treatment of chronic airway diseases like asthma as well as hay fever have been observed in clinical practice for some time. The anti-inflammatory effect has been proven in numerous studies.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Allergic reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: A retrospective clinical cohort analysis

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae
The aim of this study was to examine the pathophysiological mechanisms, epidemiology, diagnostic strategies, and treatment approaches for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) allergy based on clinical data obtained in routine allergy practice ...
