Ring Formation in Sesquiterpene Synthesis: Biomimetic vs. Non‐Biomimetic Strategies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 5, 7 February 2026.
A short review of cyclase enzyme‐mediated ring formation in sesquiterpene biosynthesis is presented as a prelude to six case studies examining the merits and demerits of biomimetic vs. non‐biomimetic strategies for carbocyclisation in the total synthesis of this iconic natural product class.

Synthetic Studies on Cyclopentane Derivatives

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1969
An alternative route to dl-prostaglandin-B1 using the Grignard reaction of 2-(6′-tert-butyloxycarbonylhexyl)-3-methoxy-2-cyclopenten-1-one(XII) with 3-tetrahydropyranyloxy-1-octyne was developed. An easy synthesis of dihydrojasmone was also described.

Removal of Steroid Hormone Micropollutants by an Electrochemical Carbon Nanotube Membrane Flow‐Through Reactor: Role of Concentration and Degradation Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 11, 5 February 2026.
A flow‐through electrochemical membrane reactor equipped with a carbon nanotube membrane eliminates the mass transfer limitation, achieving removals >97.5% for steroid hormone (SH) micropollutants through electrochemical adsorption and degradation, over a broad initial concentration varying from 50 to 106 ng L−1.

P‐Chiral (Biaryl phosphine)gold(I) Complexes in Asymmetric Cyclizations of Diverse 1‐Aryl‐1,6‐enynes

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 2, February 2026.
A new family of P‐chiral biaryl phosphine ligands coordinates gold and the resulting complexes catalyze asymmetric 1,6‐enyne cycloisomerization reactions affording cyclopentano dihydronaphthalenes in good yields with mostly high enantioselectivity. The approach is applicable to the synthesis of a podophyllotoxin analog.

Enantioselective nickel-catalyzed intramolecular allylic alkenylations enabled by reversible alkenylnickel E/Z isomerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Enantioselective nickel-catalyzed arylative cyclizations of substrates containing a Z-allylic phosphate tethered to an alkyne are described. These reactions give multisubstituted chiral aza- and carbocycles, and are initiated by the addition of an ...

Seasonal Changes in Marine Archaeal Tetraether Lipid Export Depth Linked to Net Primary Productivity

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Marine ammonia oxidizing archaea (AOA) produce isoprenoid glycerol dibiphytanyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) which form the basis of seawater temperature proxy TEX86. Although most studies use TEX86 for sea surface temperature (SST) reconstructions, maximum GDGT production occurs at and below the nitracline. Moreover, sedimentary GDGT‐2/GDGT‐3
