Memory of Chirality in Radical Addition–Translocation–Cyclization Cascades

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, EarlyView.
Radical addition–translocation–cyclization cascades of chiral alkynes show striking memory of chirality (MoC), with strong retention of configuration when fast, polarity favored cyclization are involved. The most effective system employs a highly electron‐poor pentafluorobenzenesulfonyl group.

Metal‐Free Electrophilic Borylative Cyclizations of Alkynes

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Metal‐free borylative cyclizations based on electrophilic alkyne activation by boron Lewis acids provide efficient access to borylated hetero‐ and carbocycles. Early studies using B(C6F5)3 displayed limited scope and application, whereas recent ClBcat‐ and BCl3‐based methods enable mild CB and CC/CX bond formation for the synthesis of cycles ...

Liquid Space Lubricants Examined by Vibrational Micro-Spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Considerable effort has been expended to develop liquid lubricants for satellites and space exploration vehicles. These lubricants must often perform under a range of harsh conditions such as vacuum, radiation, and temperature extremes while in orbit or ...

The Structure of Carboxyl Methyltransferase Provides Insights Into the Substrate Specificity and Divergent Evolution of Iridoid

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iridoids constitute a prominent class of plant‐specialised metabolites, with carbocyclic iridoids (e.g., geniposide) and secoiridoids (e.g., loganin) diverging early in their biosynthetic pathways. This divergence is marked by substrate‐specific carboxyl methyltransferases—GjGAMT and CrLAMT—that catalyse the decisive methylation step in ...

STEREOCHEMISTRY OF HEXENYL RADICAL CYCLIZATIONS WITH TERT-BUTYL AND RELATED LARGE GROUPS: SUBSTITUENT AND TEMPERATURE EFFECTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The long held notion that hexenyl radicals bearing large substituents on the radical carbon cyclize to give 1,2-trans-substituted cyclopentanes is experimentally disproved by study of the radical cyclization of an assortment of simple and complex ...

Ectopic Expression of ScALDH21 From a Desert Moss Enhances Cotton Resistance to Verticillium Wilt via the Modulation of Jasmonates and Phenylpropanoid Pathways

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biotic stresses, particularly Verticillium wilt (VW), lead to a global decline in cotton yields. Here, we demonstrate that ectopic expression of ScALDH21, a gene from the desiccation‐tolerant moss Syntrichia caninervis Mitt. and absent in angiosperms, enhances cotton's resistance to VW.
