Functional aspects of extracellular cyclophilins
Biological Chemistry, 2014Abstract The cyclophilin family of peptidyl prolyl cis/trans isomerases includes several isoforms found to be secreted in response to different stimuli, thus existing both in the interior and the exterior of cells. The extracellular fractions of the cyclophilins CypA and CypB are involved in the control of cell-cell communication.

Role of Cyclophilin A in HIV Replication
Future Virology, 2006A review. More than a decade has passed since the discovery that the peptidyl prolyl isomerase cyclophilin A (CypA) specifically binds to a proline-rich sequence in HIV-1 capsid (CA) and is thereby incorporated into viral particles. Since then, a variety of possible functions of CypA in the HIV-1 replication cycle have been intensively investigated ...

Cyclophilin D as a Drug Target
Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2003The mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) plays an important role in damage-induced cell death, and agents inhibiting the MPT may have a therapeutic potential for treating human conditions such as ischemia/reperfusion injury, trauma, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Redox regulation of cyclophilin A by glutathionylation
PROTEOMICS, 2006AbstractUsing redox proteomics techniques to characterize the thiol status of proteins in human T lymphocytes, we identified cyclophilin A (CypA) as a specifically oxidized protein early after mitogen activation. CypA is an abundantly expressed cytosolic protein, target of the immunosuppressive drug cyclosporin A (CsA), for which a variety of functions

Role of cyclophilin a during oncogenesis
Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2010Cyclophilins (Cyps) are ubiquitously expressed proteins that are evolutionarily conserved. CypA is the most abundant among the Cyps and is expressed in the cytosol. With its chaperone and PPIase activities, CypA contributes to the maintenance of correct conformation of nascent or denatured proteins and also provides protection against environmental ...

Cyclophilin A as a Target of Cisplatin Chemosensitizers
Current Cancer Drug Targets, 2014Platinum-based chemotherapeutics are the mainstay of treatment of a range of tumors achieving high response rates but limited in the course of disease by appearance of drug resistance. Tumor cells respond with reduced uptake and increased intracellular inactivation of the drugs, as well as increased DNA repair and general resistance to ...
