Postmortem Migration of Hymenolepis diminuta (Cestoidea: Cyclophyllidea) in the Laboratory Rat
The Journal of Parasitology, 1995Postmortem migration is of considerable concern in surveys and studies of parasite ecology where accurate estimates of parasite location is crucial. Yet, there is no quantitative information documenting this phenomenon. Twenty-seven Sprague-Dawley rats were each inoculated with 5 cysticercoids of Hymenolepis diminuta.

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1981The karyotype of Hymenolepis citelli (McLeod, 1933) has been studied using early cleavage embryos isolated from 9-day-old worms that had been pretreated for 4 h at 37.5 °C in culture medium containing 0.03% colcemid. A diploid number of 12 was observed.

Hymenolepis microstoma developed in continuous axenic culture from juvenile to prepatent adult in a diphasic culture system. Strobilization and maturation occurred only when hemin was added to the overlay of Triple Eagle's Medium or NCTC 135, or when blood was present in the agar base.

Life Cycle and Postembryonic Development of Oochoristica anolis (Cyclophyllidea: Linstowiidae)
The Journal of Parasitology, 1985Gravid proglottids of Oochoristica anolis from naturally infected anole lizards, Anolis carolinensis, were placed in covered Petri dishes with laboratory-reared beetles, Tribolium confusum and Tenebrio molitor. After maintenance at 25 C, metacestodes developed in 29 of 61 T. confusum (48%), but in none of 5 T. molitor.

As a result of analysis conducted by the authors, cestodes with the uterus disintegrated on the early stages of proglottid development were separated from the family Anoplocephalidae. The validity of the superfamilies Anoplocephaloidea and Linstowioidea, the subfamily Inversiinae, the genera Inversia, Markewitschitaenia and Opossumia, was thus restored.

The morphology of the complex rostellar apparatus of the cestode Vigisolepis spinulosa (Cholodkowski, 1906) Mathevossian, 1945, a parasite of European shrews is described. A cup-shaped morpho-functional type of the rostellum, able to turn inside out and to form a dome-shaped structure on the top of the rhynchus is described.
