Die Quitte (Cydonia oblonga) findet man in Deutschland im Wesentlichen im Hausgarten. Der erwerbsmasige Anbau ist selten. Aufgrund der hohen potenziellen Ertrage, der relativ einfachen Kulturfuhrung und der guten Absatz‐ und Verarbeitungsmoglichkeiten kann die Quitte jedoch eine interessante Nischenkultur in Deutschland sein.

Cercoseptoria cydoniae sp.nov. on quince (Cydonia vulgaris L.) in Iran
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1959Cercoseptoria cydoniae sp.nov. causing angular brown leaf spots on quince from Iran is described. Within the spots thin, hyaline, septate hyphae fill the space between the upper and lower epidermis and produce sporodochium-like structures (35-130μ diameter) under the upper cuticle, and small mycelial knots under the lower epidermis at the stomata. Mucilages and Pectins of Opuntia, Tamarindus and Cydonia
Planta Medica, 1980~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~-medica Abstract The polysaccharides of stems of Opuntia Jicusindica, seeds of T amarin dus indica and seeds of Cydonia oblonga were found to consist of a mixture of mucilage and pectin. The preparation of each polysaccharide could be achieved in an almost pure state.
