Reactivation of cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) in asymptomatic surviving goldfish Carassius auratus (L.) under immunosuppression

Fish and Shellfish Immunology, 2020
Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) is a highly contagious pathogen of goldfish (Carassius auratus) and Prussian carp (Carassius auratus gibelio) causing herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis. Our previous study revealed that CyHV-2 can persistently infect the kidney and spleen of goldfish that recovered from a primary infection.

Establishment of a novel and highly permissive cell line for the efficient replication of cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2)

Veterinary Microbiology, 2015
Haematopoietic necrosis of gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio) is caused by cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) and has caused huge economic losses in aquaculture worldwide. Currently the isolation and propagation of CyHV-2 in vitro is very difficult due to the lack of permissive cell lines.

Akt inhibitors prevent CyHV-2 infection in vitro

Fish and Shellfish Immunology
Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) is a double-stranded DNA virus that infects goldfish (Carassius auratus) and crucian carp (C. carassius), resulting in substantial mortality rates and significant epidemiological implications. To gain deeper insights into CyHV-2-host interactions and identify potential therapeutic targets, quantitative proteomics ...

Evaluation of protective effects of heat-inactivated cyprinid herpesvirus-2 (CyHV-2) vaccine against herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis disease (HVHND) in goldfish (Carassius auratus)

Fish and Shellfish Immunology, 2023
Cyprinid herpesvirus-2 (CyHV-2) is an important virus that causes herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis disease (HVHND) leading to huge economic losses in goldfish (Carassius auratus). However, until now no proper prophylactic measure or treatment is available for CyHV-2 infection in goldfish.

CyHV-2 ORF104 activates the p38 MAPK pathway

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2015
Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) is the pathogen responsible for herpesviral hematopoietic necrosis disease, which causes huge losses on aquaculture. So far the studies of CyHV-2 mainly focus on the identification and detection of this virus, but little is known about the role of specific CyHV-2 genes in the infection process.

Importation of CyHV-2-infected goldfish into the Netherlands

Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2017
Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) is known as the causative agent of herpesviral haematopoietic necrosis in goldfish Carassius auratus auratus. However, the virus has also been detected in Prussian carp C. gibelio and crucian carp C. carassius from European and Asian countries. To prevent spread of the causative virus to other areas, investigation of the

Diagnostic case report: Disease outbreak induced by CyHV-2 in goldfish in China

Aquaculture, 2020
Abstract A lethal disease of goldfish (Carassius auratus) afflicted ornamental fish farms in Beijing in 2018, causing severe financial losses. Morbidity and mortality are restricted to goldfish and occurred in spring and autumn, when water temperature was between 15 and 28 °C.
