PHOTOGRAMMETRIC MONITORING OF UNDER WATER EROSION IN THE VICINITY OF CYLINDRICAL BRIDGE PIERS [PDF]
Within this work the three dimensional development of a scour around a cylindrical bridge pier has been investigated experimentally. The erosion process has been surveyed in short time intervals using a photogrammetric approach.

Clear-Water Scour at Comparatively Large Cylindrical Piers [PDF]
AbstractNew long-duration clear-water scour data were collected at single cylindrical piers with the objective of investigating the effect of sediment coarseness, Dp/D50 (Dp = pier diameter; D50 = median grain size) on the equilibrium scour depth and improving the scour depth time evolution modeling by making use of the exponential function suggested ...

Velocity and Turbulent flow field at around the cylindrical Pier
This experimental study shows the velocity and turbulence field at vicinity of cylindrical pier with scour hole under clear water condition. The three dimensional velocity data were obtained at 5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm and 30 cm from the pier with use of Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter at 360 degrees around the pier with 30-degree interval.

Impacts of bridge-pier types on balancing ice jams: an experimental study
The presence of ice jam increases the possibility of upstream water level, which can easily trigger ice jam flooding. Bridge pier types can significantly influence backwater heights.

Experimental and numerical investigation the effect of pier position on local scouring around bridge pier at a 90° convergent bend [PDF]
Natural rivers have several bends along the path that are not generally uniform and some are convergent. Installing the bridge piers in river convergent bends may result in complicated flow and erosion patterns around the bridge piers.

Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Diameter and Placement Level of Lattice Collars on Scour Reduction around Bridge Pier [PDF]
In this research, the effect of lattice collar on reducing scour around the bridge pier was experimentally studied. A series of experiments were conducted in a flume with length of 6m and width of 0.6m. For evaluation of scouring phenomenon a cylindrical

Scour depth at inclined bridge piers along a straight path: A laboratory study
Scouring threatens the stability of hydraulic structures in different ways, mostly through erosion. This study aims to examine the effect of bridge pier inclination angle on the scouring process by conducting tests along a straight channel in a Plexiglas

Investigating the effect of oblique bed sill on bridge pier scouring with circular cross-section [PDF]
Local scouring around the pier is one of the main reasons for the instability of the bridges. Providing appropriate methods for predicting and controlling scour depth is one of the important issues that have been considered.

Local Scour Around The Cylindrical Bridge Pier With Two Sizes of Bed Material [PDF]
Local scour around the bridge piers results from the flow impact with bridge piers and it’s streamline separation. The scour hole around the bridge piers depend on the hydraulic characteristics of the flow, the specifications of the fluid, the pier’s ...
