Thyme Essential Oil and Hyaluronic Acid as Natural Disinfectant Alternatives for Broiler Breeder Fertile Eggs: Effects on Eggshell Microbial Load, Embryonic Viability and Hatchability

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Natural eggshell sanitation using thyme essential oil reduced microbial contamination and lipid peroxidation while improving embryo viability and hatchability in stored broiler breeder fertile eggs. These findings support thyme essential oil as a promising residue‐free alternative for hatchery egg sanitation.

Prescribed burning shows minor impacts on black pine needle terpenes and pine processionary moth larval survival

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 7, July 2026.
Our results highlight that prescribed burning in sub‐Mediterranean pine forests does not affect their resistance to PPM in the short term, either positively or negatively, indicating that it can be implemented to reduce wildfire hazard without influencing forest susceptibility to future PPM outbreaks.

Drying Method‐Dependent Variations in Phenolics, Color, and Volatile Profile of Thymus praecox subsp. skorpilii

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the effects of different drying methods, including freeze drying, oven drying, shade drying, and microwave drying (360, 600, and 900 W), on the volatile profile, total phenolic content (TPC), and color characteristics of wild‐grown Thymus praecox subsp. skorpilii.

Crystal structure of bromido(η6-1-isopropyl-4-methylbenzene)(7-oxocyclohepta-1,3,5-trien-1-olato-κ2O,O′)osmium

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2018
In the title compound, [OsBr(C10H14)(C7H5O2)], the central OsII ion is ligated by a hexahaptic η6 p-cymene ring, a Br− ligand and two O atoms of a chelating tropolonate group.

Dehydrative Allylic Amination in Water via a Polymer‐Supported Ruthenium Catalyst

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 12, 26 June 2026.
A green and rapid synthesis of allylamines is achieved using a polymer‐supported ruthenium catalyst. This dehydrative reaction between allyl alcohols and amines proceeds entirely in water without organic solvents or inert gas. The process completes in just 1 h, and the solid catalyst allows for easy filtration, offering a sustainable route to valuable ...

Rh(III)‐Catalyzed [4+2] Annulation of Imidazoles With α‐Diazocarbonyl Compounds: Direct Access to π‐Conjugated Imidazole‐Fused Isoquinolinone

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 23, 16 June 2026.
A Rh(III)‐catalyzed [4 + 2] annulation of 2‐aryl imidazoles/benzimidazoles with α‐diazocarbonyl compounds is developed for the synthesis of π‐conjugated imidazo/benzimidazo[2,1‐a]isoquinolinones systems. Mechanistic studies and control experiment reveal that the reaction proceeds via imidazole‐directed ortho C(sp2)–H activation, followed by carbene C–H

Altered Antimicrobial and Anti-biofilm Forming Effect of Thyme Essential Oil due to Changes in Composition

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2018
The antimicrobial and anti-biofilm forming effect of thyme (Thymus vulgaris) essential oil (TEO) with different compositions was evaluated. Normally the main component in this TEO is thymol, but in 2014 we found that the proportions of γ-terpinene and p -

From Citrus to Cymene: Understanding the Hydrothermal Conversion of Limonene

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
When life gives you limonene… Hydrothermal conversion and pyrolysis of limonene give two distinct sets of products, arising from differing reaction cascades. While p‐cymene dominates in the presence of water, indicative of an isomerisation/aromatisation pathway, pyrolysis favours cracking and loss of carbon affording an m‐xylene rich aromatic mix.
