Submicroscopic structure of spermatozoa of a cyprinodontiform teleost, Jenynsia lineata

Zeitschrift fr Zellforschung und Mikroskopische Anatomie, 1967
A submicroscopical study of Jenynsia lineata spermatids and spermatozoa has been made. The formation of an axial nuclear cavity by folding is described. A sub-mitochondrial net with a very geometrical pattern has been found in the mid piece; to the author's knowledge this structure is not comparable to any other described up to now.

Ultrastructural features of spermatogenesis in Melanorivulus punctatus (Cyprinodontiformes: Rivulidae)

Micron, 2014
Fish belonging to the family Rivulidae possess one of the most complex reproductive systems. Rivulus, a genus of freshwater fish in the Rivulidae family, was recently reclassified into five genera, including Melanorivulus. Its type species, M. punctatus, is widely distributed and probably represents a species complex.

Two new species of Atlantirivulus (Cyprinodontiformes: Rivulidae) from Atlantic Forest biome, São Paulo State, Brazil

Neotropical Ichthyology
Atlantirivulus santensis is currently considered as widely distributed along the coastal drainages of São Paulo State, Brazil. However, the morphological variation observed in this taxon suggests that it could represent a species complex.

Association of reproduction with seasonality in a subtropical viviparous fish, Jenynsia tucumana (Cyprinodontiformes: Anablepidae)

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 2023
For fishes in temperate environments, the timing of seasonal reproduction has been correlated with changes in photoperiod and temperature. In tropical environments, seasonal hydrological patterns have been found to be drivers of the onset of reproduction.
