Lysosomal oxidation of LDL alters lysosomal pH, induces senescence and increases secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines in human macrophages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objective We have shown that aggregated low density lipoproteins (LDL) is internalised by macrophages and oxidised in lysosomes by redox-active iron.

Laser‐Induced Graphene for Early Disease Detection: A Review

open access: yesChemElectroChem, Volume 12, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) has emerged as a superior alternative to conventionally synthesized graphene due to its flexibility, cost‐effectiveness, scalability, high conductivity, and the ability to customize its properties for various applications. This review highlights LIG′s transformative potential in electrochemical biosensing, focusing on early

Cognitive functions and behavioural profiles in children with cystinosis treated with cysteamine and correlation with treatment duration

open access: yesMiddle East Current Psychiatry, 2022
Background Cystinosis is a rare autosomal recessive disease. Children with nephropathic cystinosis (NCTN) have evidence of intellectual dysfunction and behavioural abnormalities which are attributed to renal dysfunction, metabolic disarrangement, and ...

Cutting‐Edge Aptasensing Approaches for Electrochemical Detection of Exosomes Utilizing MXenes

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
This work notably summarizes research on 2D MXenes/MXene's‐hybrid‐based nanoplatforms patterned with aptamers as an alternative to antibodies affording highly sensitive and robust biosensing of exosomes as well as their efficient isolation. The exosomes are highlighted as a valuable source of biomarkers and with the immobilization approaches of ...

Improved method for the preparation of malonyl coenzyme A

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1968
Malonyl coenzyme A is synthesized by transacylating S-malonyl-N-decanoyl cysteamine with coenzyme A. A simplified procedure for the preparation of S-malonyl-N-decanoyl cysteamine, using cysteamine as starting material, is described.

Studying the Ingress of Ag Nanoparticles into Imprinted Nanocavities by Nanoimpact Electrochemistry

open access: yesChemElectroChem, EarlyView.
The ingress of single silver nanoparticles (NPs) into nanocavities is studied by nanoimpact electrochemistry. The NP‐imprinted matrix approach is used to create well‐defined nanocavities that reuptake selectively silver NPs based on their size as detected by the current–time oxidation transients of single NPs.

Beneficial effects of cysteamine in Thy1-α-Syn mice and induced pluripotent stem cells with a SNCA gene triplication

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2020
A number of publications have reported that cysteamine has significant therapeutic effects on several aspects of Parkinson's disease (PD)-related pathology but none of these studies have evaluated its impact on pathological forms of α-Synuclein (α-Syn ...

_In vivo_ photoacoustic molecular imaging with simultaneous multiple selective targeting using antibody-conjugated gold nanorods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The use of gold nanorods for photoacoustic molecular imaging in vivo with simultaneous multiple selective targeting is reported. The extravasation of multiple molecular probes is demonstrated, and used to probe molecular information of cancer cells. This
