Piglet coccidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Cystoisospora suis, which is regarded as the most prevalent gastrointestinal parasite in intensive pig farms. Despite the availability of highly effective chemo-metaphylaxis (toltrazuril), coccidiosis is still prevalent in European and other countries.
